Job description

Job Summary:
Ansa is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bioinformatics Data Scientist to join our team. In this role you will work in collaboration with R&D scientists to understand experimental, manufacturing, and commercial data in the context of DNA sequence features. You will design and build data analysis pipelines that drive further innovation of Ansa's enzymatic DNA synthesis products. Embedded on a team of bioinformatics data scientists and software engineers, you will integrate the tools you build into our production software ecosystem. This work will improve manufacturing outcomes, enhance product development efforts, and feed insights back to Ansa's commercial strategy.
This role requires a strong background in the analysis and interpretation of DNA data and some experience in implementing data science workflows at scale. The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. and 2+ years of experience in biotech or a related industry.
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze data and present findings to drive decision-making in R&D, manufacturing pipeline improvement, and product development.
  • Critically evaluate statistical learning, AI, and bioinformatics tools for their appropriate application to experimental and production data.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable and robust bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and rapidly implement solutions from prototype/concept to production deployment.
  • Ensure data integrity, traceability, accuracy, and security.
  • Use software engineering best practices, including distributed version control, participation in team code review, and automation for building, testing, and deploying production code.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biophysics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Candidates with equivalent industry experience and demonstrated quantitative skill set will be considered.
  • Proven track record in analyzing, interpreting, and modeling biological data, including high-throughput sequencing data, using Python for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Proficient in using a wide range of bioinformatics tools and resources for DNA sequence analysis, including experience using statistical, machine learning, and AI methods in molecular biology and genomics.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping production code in an industry setting using software engineering best practices.
  • Experience deploying automated analysis pipelines using cloud computing resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Desire to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Generous benefits package including health, dental, and vision.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • The opportunity to be part of a company at the forefront of synthetic biology and innovation.
