Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Billing Manager to lead and optimize our billing function within a fast-paced media agency environment. This role will oversee day-to-day billing operations, manage a small team, and drive process improvements to ensure accurate, timely, and scalable billing practices across multiple regions and entities.
Work Environment:
  • This position is based in Boston, MA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and mentor a team of four billing professionals, providing guidance, oversight, and performance management
  • Own and enhance monthly billing reporting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely delivery to leadership
  • Directly process international billing across Australia, the UK, and Ireland, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local requirements
  • Directly process intercompany billing, including preparation, reconciliation, and issue resolution
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate and streamline media billing timelines, improving overall efficiency
  • Define, track, and report on key billing KPIs (timeliness, accuracy, aging, and overall performance), proactively addressing gaps
  • Establish and maintain strong billing controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure alignment with revenue recognition policies and support month-end close, including billing cutoffs and accruals
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex client billing issues and disputes, partnering with internal and external stakeholders as needed
  • Maintain close collaboration with cross-functional partners, including media department leads, to support billing operations and client needs
  • Partner with the Staff Accountants on client pre-bill reconciliations and provide additional support to the accounting team as capacity allows
  • Act as business owner for billing systems, partnering with IT and Strata on system enhancements, issue resolution, testing, and implementations
  • Develop, document, and standardize billing processes and procedures (SOPs) across all regions and entities
  • Assess team capacity and allocate resources effectively to meet billing deadlines; identify hiring or structural needs as the business grows
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to reduce manual work and increase efficiency

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 6-7+ years of billing, accounting, or finance experience, preferably within a media or advertising agency
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team
  • Strong understanding of media billing processes and platforms
  • Experience working with international billing and intercompany transactions
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and billing/accounting systems

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with media billing platforms such as Strata
  • Experience driving process improvement initiatives and system implementations

Details:
  • The annual salary range for this full-time role is $110,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience.
  • This position will be eligible to participate in the standard benefits offered to full-time employees of Allied Global Marketing (medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability and life insurance as well as 401k and Flexible PTO). We also offer 10 company paid holidays.
