Pay Range: $20-$24/hr

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday

Location: Missoula, MT

Description

We are seeking a customer-focused and organized Parts Counter Rep to join our growing parts department. This role is responsible for assisting retail customers, service technicians, and wholesale accounts with identifying, sourcing, ordering, and distributing parts while providing exceptional customer service.


The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has strong organizational skills, and is committed to maintaining accurate inventory and order processing. Whether assisting technicians at the service counter or helping customers over the phone, you'll play a critical role in keeping repairs moving efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist retail customers, service technicians, and wholesale accounts with identifying and purchasing the correct parts
  • Provide friendly, professional, and knowledgeable customer service both in person and over the phone
  • Answer incoming calls and provide pricing, availability, and product information
  • Process parts orders for the service department, retail customers, and wholesale accounts
  • Pull, stage, and distribute parts accurately from inventory
  • Recommend related parts, accessories, and current specials when appropriate
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management of low-stock or out-of-stock items
  • Source unavailable parts from outside vendors and place emergency orders when necessary
  • Follow up on back-ordered and special-order parts, keeping customers and service advisors informed
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify order accuracy
  • Prepare orders for customer pickup, delivery, or shipment
  • Process customer payments, returns, exchanges, and credits accurately
  • Bill internal parts to repair orders and maintain accurate transaction records
  • Maintain organized inventory, work areas, and parts storage locations
  • Assist with inventory counts, stocking shelves, and replenishing assigned inventory
  • Track shop tools and issue equipment to technicians as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of repair orders, invoices, special orders, and customer transactions
  • Participate in product training and stay current on new parts and product updates
  • Support the Parts Manager with inventory control, lost sales tracking, and departmental operations
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a professional appearance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, technicians, vendors, and coworkers
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn dealership or inventory management software
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and discounts
  • Ability to accurately process orders, invoices, and payments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to locate alternative parts sources when needed
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic


Preferred Backgrounds

  • Automotive, truck, or heavy equipment parts experience
  • Dealership or aftermarket parts department experience
  • Warehouse, inventory control, or shipping/receiving experience
  • Customer service, retail sales, or inside sales experience
  • Experience with dealership management systems (DMS) or inventory software
  • Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with automotive components is a plus


Work Environment

  • Fast-paced dealership or parts department environment
  • Frequent interaction with customers, service advisors, technicians, and vendors

Physical Requirements
