Job description

We are partnering with one of Southwest Florida's premier construction companies to hire a Senior Accountant. With 30 years in business the company has earned more than 450 industry awards for excellence including America's Best Builder by Builder Magazine.
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting operations of the companies homebuilding and development entities. This position is responsible for financial reporting, reconciliations, job cost accounting, budgeting support, bank draw administration, and partnering with leadership to improve financial processes and business performance.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Controller to support the daily accounting operations of multiple homebuilding and development entities
  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, and job cost information
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports for leadership and management
  • Manage the accounting, financial reporting, and bank draw process for assigned development entities
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Support annual tax preparation by coordinating requested information with the external tax accounting firm
  • Manage corporate credit card approval and payment processes
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses for leadership
  • Identify accounting trends, financial risks, and opportunities for process improvement
  • Maintain and document accounting policies and procedures while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Construction, homebuilding, or real estate development accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Balance sheet and intercompany reconciliation experience
  • Job cost accounting experience
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis experience
  • Experience supporting annual tax preparation and working with external accounting firms
  • Sage 300 or similar ERP experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including strong Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
