What is a bank construction draw inspection?

A bank construction draw inspection is a process where an inspector visits a construction site to verify the progress of work before the bank releases funds for the next phase of the project. The inspector checks that the completed work matches the draw request and ensures it aligns with the approved plans and budget. This helps protect the lender by making sure loan disbursements are only made for work that has actually been completed. The inspection typically includes photographs, a written report, and sometimes recommendations for future draws.

To thrive as a Bank Construction Draw Inspector, you need a background in construction management, finance, or engineering, along with strong knowledge of building codes and project documentation. Familiarity with inspection software, project management tools, and sometimes certifications like ICC (International Code Council) or OSHA are typically required. Attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills help ensure accurate reporting and collaboration with stakeholders. These competencies are vital to safeguard lender investments, ensure project progress, and maintain compliance throughout the construction process.

What are the typical challenges faced when conducting bank construction draw inspections, and how can applicants prepare for them?
