Technology Support Technician Job Description
The Technology Support Technician provides responsive, customer-focused technical support to faculty, staff, students, and families, ensuring the reliable operation of technology that supports teaching, learning, and school operations. This position serves as the primary front-line resource for technology support, assisting users with hardware, software, classroom technology, audiovisual systems, and device management.
Working under the direction of the Educational Technology Manager, the Technology Support Technician troubleshoots technical issues, maintains technology equipment, supports classroom and event technology, and assists with implementing technology initiatives. The technician also contributes to staff training, technology documentation, and continuous improvement of technology services.
Success in this position is measured by exceptional customer service, timely resolution of support requests, effective communication, and a commitment to helping users confidently utilize technology.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technology support requests from faculty, staff, students, and families through the help desk, phone, email, and walk-in support.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printing, classroom technology, and account-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service while communicating technical information clearly, supportively, and in a user-friendly manner.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the Educational Technology Manager or external technology vendors as appropriate.

Technology Operations
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, Chromebooks, mobile devices, printers, software, peripherals, and classroom technology.
  • Support Google Workspace, device management systems, user accounts, and other instructional and operational technology platforms.
  • Perform preliminary troubleshooting for network and connectivity issues and coordinate with managed service providers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate technology asset inventory, equipment lifecycle records, and support documentation.
  • Evaluate damaged devices and coordinate repairs, warranty claims, and vendor service requests.

Classroom & AV Technology
  • Support classroom technology, including projectors, sound systems, presentation equipment, and other instructional technology.
  • Assist with setup, operation, and teardown of audiovisual equipment for school events, performances, meetings, and special activities, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Assist teachers with classroom technology needs and provide one-on-one support to build confidence and improve the effective use of technology.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with the Educational Technology Manager to support technology initiatives, classroom technology implementations, and schoolwide projects.
  • Assist in developing user guides, knowledge base articles, and technology documentation.
  • Provide basic technology orientation and training for faculty and staff as requested.
  • Identify recurring technology issues and recommend improvements to enhance technology services and user experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

K 12 Responsibilities
As a full-time employee, you are expected to contribute to the success of the Prospect Ridge Academy community beyond the school day. This may include:
  • Sponsoring a club or coaching a team (stipends may apply)
  • Serving on committees or task forces
  • Supporting school events and community activities

Education and Related Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience providing technology support, help desk services, hardware/software installation, or technical troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting technology in a K 12 or educational environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting Apple devices, Chromebooks, Google Workspace, mobile device management (MDM), and classroom technology preferred.
  • Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) and CompTIA A+ certifications preferred, or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills with a positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple support requests while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace, Apple devices, Chromebook management, classroom technology, audiovisual systems, and common productivity software.
  • Basic understanding of networking, cybersecurity, and data privacy best practices.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing technology needs.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, inventory records, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative technology team.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without help.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Work is sometimes performed outside in all weather conditions and may include exposure to loud noise.
  • This position provides contact with students, staff, Administrators, PRA Board of Directors, and parents.
  • Work hours may occasionally be extended.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,551 - $68,165
