Job description

Audio Engineer - This is a full-time position with benefits.  Starting hourly rate is $27.50.

Overview

The world-famous Fremont Street Experience is a large outdoor entertainment venue. Spanning 4 city blocks under the world’s largest digital display. We operate 3 outdoor stages 365 days a year providing live entertainment such as local bands, DJ’s, special events, and touring national acts. FSE is a fast-paced venue averaging over 3000 shows annually.
 

Summary

The Audio Engineer works with a variety of equipment, such as digital audio consoles, wedge monitors, IEM monitors, microphones, and external signal processing equipment. Responsible for setting up and providing a professional audio mix on a large format audio system. Required to connect cables, speakers, microphones, mixing boards and other related equipment. Strike all equipment at the end of the show / event. Also be responsible for reporting equipment

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience mixing on large format concert level audio systems
  • Complete understanding of signal flow from stage to consoles to processing to line array and subs
  • Complete understanding of digital audio console operation 
  • Complete understanding of sub mix routing 
  • Operational understanding of RF systems (Microphones and IEM)
  • Ability to mix FOH and monitors simultaneously 
  • Pleasant team-oriented demeanor 

Duties Preshow

1. Set up Allen & Heath SQ7 digital console 

2. Review patch of all I/O required for show

3. Set up wireless microphones 

4. Ensure stagehand has proper input patch, monitor mixes and monitor locations

5. Ensure correct microphone placement

6. Recall Master Show file for the current act

7. Perform proper line check

8. Adjust individual monitor mixes including EQ

9. Provide Matrix feed for distribution though delay clusters flanking each stage

Show

1. Adjust group and main DSP

2. Adjust overall sound pressure levels within FSE acceptable levels

3. Actively mix each act for the duration of their show

4. Make monitor adjustments per performers request as needed throughout show

5. Maintain FSE approved levels throughout show

6. Troubleshoot and report any audio issues that may occur to security

7. Always stay in radio contact
 

 Post Show

1. Disconnect all I/O Patching and neatly store all drive lines and cables

2. Power down console and strike all FOH items

3. Place all FOH items under stage or in stage storage area

4. Assist stagehand in closing the stage
