Job description

ZIPLINE TOUR GUIDES

Do you love the outdoors and adventure recreation!? Join our team of zip line guides.

Sky Valley Zip Tours has two zipline courses to enjoy...Our Canopy Tour consists of a series of 10 ziplines a swinging bridge and a cliff jump/rappel, all in one amazing adventure...our Whistle Pig Kids course is 7 lower and shorter ziplines for kids age 4 and up. Guides will be trained on both.

Our GUDIES generally work one or two tours per day with each tour taking about three hours. Guides will be professionally trained before starting employment and must master a set of skills from course orientation, instructional methods, and proper usage of equipment, interpretive skills, and basic rescue techniques and first aid.

Sky Valley Zip Tours operates from March through November. Guides are expected to be available during operational hours and weekends throughout our season. Guides are paid hourly with additional tips!

We operate 7 days a week and employees have a 5 day work week. No time off requests in July or on major holidays. Scheduled days off each week will vary.

Requirements

  • US Resident and Minimum 18 years old
  • CPR and Basic First Aid (preferred)
  • Capable of performing all physical tasks required of the position including, but not limited to:
  • assisting self & others on and off lines and platforms safely
  • must demonstrate ability to retrieve participants who stop short of platform
  • lower self and others from platform without assistance
  • proficient in knot tying and use of all equipment on course
  • Capable of providing leadership and guidance
  • Able to work & lead in stressful situations and follow direct orders/instruction
  • Capable of following risk management procedures and/or comfortable with getting assistance as required in making decisions
  • Able to work at heights above 60 feet
  • Strong communication skills and desire to work with the general public
  • Responsible for your own safety as well as the safety of others
  • Effective time management skills; punctuality and commitment to job
  • Able to walk on uneven terrain for 1 mile
  • Willing to assist in general management or housekeeping duties as needed

Responsibilities

ยท Arrive as scheduled for pre-tour opening responsibilities

ยท Meet and greet zipline tour guests

ยท Lead groups in an outdoor adventure setting with one or more coworkers

ยท Instruct guests on proper use of zipline equipment and answer any questions / concerns they express

ยท Inform guests of our expectations while on the course

ยท Assist guests with physical and/or emotional challenges

ยท Manage potentially risky behavior & maintain control of the group at all times

ยท Manage minor injuries by providing appropriate assessment and/or treatment and & manage major injuries by following protocol

ยท Provide a professional, friendly and fun atmosphere & experience for guests

ยท Complete required reports and paperwork

ยท Assist as needed or directed with end-of-day responsibilities

Training Requirements and Procedures

Initial Training

All Guide Candidates must attend and complete a five day of training. All Guide Candidates must successfully demonstrate a series of skills in order to complete the training. Attendance alone does not constitute successful completion of the training, nor does it guarantee employment as a Guide. All skills must be mastered and demonstrated to complete the course training.

Compensation

Guides will be paid on an hourly basis; generally each tour shift is 3-4 hours, two times a day. Gratuity is common (and generous) but not guaranteed. There will be plenty of opportunities to work additional hours at the Zip Shack. Payroll runs every 2 weeks. Payroll is direct deposit only. This is a seasonal job. Starting pay is $13/hour.

Uniforms

Guides will sign for and receive Sky Valley Zip Tours Staff shirts to be worn during work hours. Shirts must be returned at the end of the season.
