Project Overview:

 Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. M&T is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, data centre, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets. Job Summary:
The LEED Coordinator is responsible for leading and managing the  LEED certification process for FAB buildings from design through construction and certification. This role works closely with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure compliance with U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED requirements and meet project sustainability goals. The LEED Coordinator tracks credits, collects and reviews documentation, facilitates team coordination, and supports the successful achievement of targeted LEED certification levels.

Major Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for performing and coordinating all activities required for achieving LEED certification of buildings. The successful candidate will demonstrate good understanding of technical submittal review requirements and support and foster close collaboration between all relevant parties (designers, consultants, subcontractors, stakeholders, and clients) who are responsible for providing the necessary documentation. They will also be responsible for compiling and submitting this documentation for review and acceptance by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). They will identify and appropriately elevate concerns that add to the risk of not being awarded points for LEED certification


In addition, The LEED Coordinator will:
•    Ensure the client's sustainability goals and objectives (including LEED) are properly executed onsite by the contractors, subcontractors, and LEED consultants
•    Act as the interface coordinator between the client, engineering, design consultants, and construction contractors for LEED certification matters.
•    Oversee/support the LEED consultant to coordinate documentation collection, review them for quality, and facilitate reviews on behalf of the client or sustainability team.
•    Develop the Sustainability Management Plan and ensure that all contractors and consultants understand and agree to their respective responsibilities.
•    Prior to construction, review planned site construction practices to ensure adherence to credit requirements, with particular attention to waste management, construction indoor air quality, pollution prevention, erosion control and work with others on the procurement and contracting chain to achieve the desired credit achievements.
•    Maintain excellent working relationships with the client team, LEED Consultant and Design and Construction teams.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or related field (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    LEED AP BD+C qualification.
•    Experience with successful certification of LEED projects of a similar size and scope.
•    Experience with training, guiding, and supporting stakeholders to successfully achieve LEED requirements and credits.
•    Experience interfacing with USGBC and GBCI LEED Online on credit interpretations and alternative compliance methods.
•    Experience with applying value engineering to LEED certification practices.
•    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•    Excellent time management skills and proven ability to prioritize.
•    Able to build good relationships with people at all levels and have a collaborative, solutions-oriented, problem-solving approach, proactive.
