Job Summary

Must be familiar with Amtrak Transit trains, have a thorough knowledge of timetables and connections.

Essential Functions
  • Check tickets of passengers in the Seating Area and interface with the public in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Assist Passengers on the station concourse between train assignments; Covers duties of Usher/Gateman, Info Clerk, and PIDS operator. 
  • Make announcements over the PA in a clear, concise manner.
  • Assist Supervisors and Desk Clerk between train assignments and checking tickets.
  • The GEB (Guaranteed Extra board) Customer Service Representative is an on-call position. This employee is guaranteed full-time pay and the schedule will vary from week-to-week. They will be expected to cover planned and unplanned time off in the absence of other team members. It could require that candidates be willing to work any shift/schedule, including days, afternoons, evenings, holidays and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Some experience in a customer facing, service-oriented position.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment when covering Desk Clerk, Seating Area and Information Clerk.
  • Some years in a service-oriented position.
  • Must conform to Amtrak’s Standards of Excellence and prescribed code of dress.
Communications and Interpersonal Skills

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The hourly range is $28.18 – $37.57 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).

In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
