Job description

We're looking to grow our Business Management Team!

As a Senior Business Analyst you will play a critical role as a subject matter expert and primary bridge between client operations and technology delivery, leading end-to-end business analysis on complex, high-impact P&C insurance projects. This role owns the complete requirements lifecycle—from discovery and elicitation through backlog design, sprint demonstrations, and UAT—independently manages the BA workstream for a single client engagement, and mentors’ junior analysts with an optional formal supervisory role overseeing direct reports.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic, consultative environment and can translate business needs into actionable insights.

Essential Duties

  • Acts as a strategic partner to stakeholders by clarifying needs, managing expectations, and ensuring solutions align with business goals, while leveraging tools and technology, including AI, to improve team efficiency and decision-making.

  • Independently gather, analyze, and document highly complex business, functional, and non-functional requirements; maintain requirements traceability matrices linking business objectives through requirements to test cases.

  • Design Epics, Features, and User Stories in ADO or JIRA; define measurable acceptance criteria using Gherkin (Given-When-Then) methodology.

  • Maintain and manage requirements repository—requirement-level change control including impact analysis, handoff facilitation with Dev, UX and QA, and stakeholder communication.

  • Conduct deep-dive analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency.

  • Design and implement dashboards for strategic decision-making using tools like: SQL, Power BI, and Tableau; develop advanced analytics models to forecast demand, capacity, or customer behavior.

  • Collaborate with technology teams to design and implement solutions that enhance business operations.

  • Lead sprint demonstrations, perform impact analysis, and translate validated requirements into a structured implementation backlog aligned with delivery timelines.

  • Plan and coordinate UAT—writing UAT plans, coordinating client testers, and tracking coverage against acceptance criteria.

  • Proactively identify risks, gaps, and misalignments in scope, assumptions, or solution design, and lead resolution efforts to minimize rework and ensure successful delivery outcomes.

  • Lead BA deliverable planning including user story mapping and backlog refinement; provide and refine effort estimates grounded in complexity and historical data.

  • Mentor and peer-review junior analysts (BA I–III) on business analysis principles, critical thinking, and Agile practices; guide workload reprioritization and foster a culture of innovation collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Optionally supervise direct reports including performance evaluations and career development feedback; participate in recruitment activities.

Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in business analysis tools (eg., ADO, JIRA, Confluence, FigJam, Visio, and Lucidchart.)

  • Demonstrated experience in process modeling, workflow automation, and requirement documentation

  • Expertise in Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.

  • Deep knowledge of the P&C insurance lifecycle including policy, billing, and claims. (Duck Creek experience strongly preferred.)

  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI, or predictive analytics.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and peer-review junior analysts with actionable feedback.

  • Strategic problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills—facilitates requirement walkthroughs and stakeholder workshops for both technical and non-technical audiences with a consultative mindset.

  • Sound decision-making in ambiguous situations; strong planning and coordination; collaborative and results-oriented; maintains confidentiality and high ethical standards.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
