Job Description

Driver Responsibilities 

  • Prioritize safety and quality by consistently following all company policies, procedures, and applicable safety standards on and off the road.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience by interacting with customers and the general public in a courteous, professional, and positive manner.
  • Complete deliveries efficiently and accurately 
  • Utilize handheld technology to manage delivery routes, scan and track packages, update delivery status, and address delivery-related challenges.
  • Sort, organize, and prepare packages to ensure routes are completed efficiently and within established customer delivery commitments.
  • Maintain delivery vehicle by ensuring it is clean, properly fueled, and in safe, reliable operating condition at all times.
  • Support team development by assisting with the training and onboarding of new or existing team members, as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Operate a delivery van with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of up to 10,000 lbs. while making multiple stops at residential and commercial locations.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive delivery expectations and changing priorities.
  • Frequently enter and exit the delivery vehicle and walk, climb stairs, and carry packages as required to complete deliveries safely and efficiently.
  • Work outdoors and operate a delivery vehicle in various weather conditions while maintaining safety and service standards.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, as routes and delivery times may be affected by traffic, road construction, weather, customer needs, and other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Maintain a consistent core schedule; however, additional hours, schedule adjustments, and changes in assigned routes may be required, particularly during peak seasons and periods of increased business demand.

Qualifications

Delivery Driver Basic Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence
  • Able to read and speak English sufficiently to comply with U.S. DOT regulations and communicate with the public and regulatory authorities

  • Prior professional driving experience 
  • High School Diploma
