Job Description

The coordinator will work within the Advising and Student Success Center as a liaison for allied health field experience and clinical placements with the various allied health institutions with which the CoEHHS has relationships. The coordinator will collaborate with leaders, cooperating site staff, field supervisors and students to develop high-quality field experience and clinical placements. They will develop and implement an evaluation system for placements to support continuous improvement, and lead and participate in related assessment and accreditation activities. The coordinator will develop and deliver allied health professional development programming, and the pipelines for recruitment of allied health candidates to diversify the health and human services workforce. They will share program evaluation data, maintain a continuous improvement feedback loop and advocate for pre-service, new, and experienced allied health services support across the region, state, and nationally.

Coordinator of Field Experience and Clinical Placements

• Secure appropriate field experience and clinical placements (after consultation with faculty and in cooperating with site coordinators) for all students' enrolled courses with a required field experience and eligible for their clinical placement.

• Build relationships with area allied health partners.

• Co - Plan and facilitate events each semester for allied health candidates including Application Meetings, Placement Meetings, Orientation, and Professional Development.

• Assist in the development of appropriate evaluation and assessment instruments for field experience and clinical placements.

• Collect field experience and clinical placement assessments from Supervisors, Cooperating Site Staff and Allied Health Candidates and review and share results with course instructors.

• Participate in unit-level assessment processes - including data collection, submission of reports for accreditation, reporting of results.

• Maintain records of field placement history per allied health candidate.

• Communicate placement information, registration processes, and criminal background check protocols per site and placement requirements.

Induction and New Professionals Support

• Collaborate with site partners to support induction activities by planning and facilitating events, camps, and workshops.

• Collect feedback and data regarding pre-service allied health professionals, induction activities, and new allied health professionals support programming through partner sites. Reporting of results for continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with colleagues in the Advising and Student Success Center and partnership sites on grant opportunities and recruitment and retention of new professionals.

Allied Health Site Partnerships

• Represent CoEHHS in daily interactions with administrators and site staff.

• Share opportunities for collaborations which can benefit partner sites, cooperating site staff, and candidates.

• Support and attend events/workshops/meetings that are a part of collaborative efforts between SCSU CoEHHS and partners from sites, other Minnesota State Allied-Health Preparation Programs and state entities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Allied Health or closely related field

• Professional License/Certification in field, if required by field. (holds or has held)

• Minimum 3 years experience in an allied-health setting

• Demonstrated effectiveness in coaching, mentoring, and assessment of novice allied-health professionals, candidates, and practicing allied-health staff.

• Demonstrated experience in coordinating with allied health sites to secure field experience and/or clinical placements, coordinating with site staff, and evaluating placements.

• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to establish effective relationships with allied health partners, students, staff, administrators, colleagues, and campus/community leaders to achieve goals

• Proven written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to communicate complex messages to individuals with limited background knowledge.

• High level of cultural competency with proven ability to work effectively with individuals from underrepresented groups.

• Experience with allied-health preparation content, curriculum, and/or program design.

• Experience and demonstrated expertise with assessment, evaluation, and continuous allied health preparation program improvement.

Preferred Qualification

• Master's Degree in an Allied Health or closely related field

• Experience teaching in a university setting

• Demonstrated ability to design, conduct, and assess professional development workshops

• Experience working with multilingual adults, families, or youth

• Experience with coordination, implementation, and evaluation of large events

• Experience delivering content via online technology
