Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services in the College of Arts and Sciences will serve as a vital role in promoting the educational and career success for students in the college. As the Assistant Director you will provide excellent customer service to the graduate student population.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Coordinates graduate student services across the social sciences sector with primary responsibility for new AI+ master's degrees
  • Promotes ongoing professional development opportunities provided by the Graduate School to CAS graduate students
  • Serves as the first point of contact for day-to-day questions from team members; onboarding efforts and retraining of graduate support staff; provides initial backup for those on leave or positions in transition
  • Assist the Director of Graduate Studies, Department Chair, in all aspects of student management.
  • Collaborate with the Student Support team across the college to maintain policies and procedures.

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest interdisciplinary academic unit at the University at Buffalo. With 30 departments, 16 academic programs and 23 centers and institutes in the arts and humanities, natural sciences and mathematics and the social sciences, the College offers more academic options than any other unit on campus.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree
  • 2 years of experience working in higher education.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong and current computing skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability and eagerness to learn new systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Experience working in graduate admissions with a diverse population of domestic and international students.
  • Administrative experience in an academic setting and experience with University systems (HUB and SLATE) .
