What is a full time AI data annotator?

A Full Time AI Data Annotator is a professional responsible for labeling, categorizing, or tagging data such as images, text, or audio for use in training artificial intelligence and machine learning models. Their work helps ensure that algorithms can accurately recognize patterns and make predictions based on real-world data. Annotators may use specialized software tools to complete their tasks and must pay close attention to detail to maintain high data quality. The role is crucial in developing and improving AI systems across industries like healthcare, automotive, and technology.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a full time AI data annotator?

To thrive as a Full Time AI Data Annotator, you need keen attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and a high school diploma or equivalent, although some roles may require domain-specific knowledge. Familiarity with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, and basic computer proficiency are typically necessary, and experience with tools like Labelbox or Supervisely is often preferred. Excellent communication, time management, and the ability to follow complex instructions make someone stand out in this position. These skills ensure high-quality, accurate datasets that are critical for training and validating reliable AI models.

To manage these, it's important to stay detail-oriented, regularly reference annotation guidelines, and communicate with team leads or peers when uncertainties arise. Many organizations provide support channels and periodic training to help annotators keep up with evolving project standards. Staying organized and taking regular breaks can also help maintain focus and reduce errors during repetitive tasks.

Job description

Artefact is a next-generation data and AI consulting firm dedicated to accelerating the adoption of data and AI to create measurable business impact across the full enterprise value chain.

We sit at the intersection of consulting, data science, AI technologies, data engineering, and digital transformation. We do not just advise - we build, implement, and deliver results our clients can measure. Our teams bring together consultants, data scientists, data engineers, AI engineers, analysts, and digital experts to solve complex business challenges with pragmatic, production-ready solutions.

As we continue to grow in the US, we are building a team of entrepreneurial data and AI talent who can help clients move beyond experimentation and into scalable, governed, value-generating AI adoption.

The Role

Artefact is looking for a Senior AI & Data Consultant: an analytical, client-facing consultant who is also a hands-on builder with AI. You will perform advanced analytics, interface directly with clients, and keep project efforts aligned and on track - and you will do it AI-natively. Our senior consultants use AI tools to analyze faster, write better, and prototype what they recommend. When the team needs a quick proof of concept, you're the one who opens Claude Code or Gemini CLI and builds it. We need someone who is not afraid of the terminal.

What You'll Do

  • Define client needs through interviews with client teams and technology partners.
  • Perform advanced data analysis and research on high-impact, strategic client problems.
  • Help build, formulate, and present strategic data and AI recommendations.
  • Keep internal project efforts aligned and on track, and interface with clients with confidence and care.
  • Use AI tools daily across your work: analysis, synthesis, writing, and quality checking - with the judgment to verify outputs.
  • Prototype ideas with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex): a working demo, an automated analysis, a small internal tool.
  • Apply core GenAI concepts - prompting, RAG, agents, context engineering - well enough to explain them to clients and stress-test vendor claims.
  • Develop specialization in at least one AI platform ecosystem: Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude), or OpenAI.
  • Present insights to clients in clear, compelling language - to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Contribute to new business proposals and to Artefact-published content (research, articles, business cases).
  • Oversee and mentor entry-level consultants and interns.

What We're Looking For

  • 3-5 years of full-time work experience, ideally in consulting, data/analytics, marketing, advertising, finance, or tech.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience presenting data-driven recommendations to clients.
  • Hands-on AI literacy: regular use of AI tools for real work, and demonstrated willingness to build - prototypes, automations, analyses - with AI assistance.
  • Comfort with the terminal, and with tools like Claude Code or Gemini CLI (or clear evidence you'll get there fast).
  • Working knowledge of SQL and/or Python for data analysis; advanced Excel and PowerPoint/Google Workspace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, client-facing and intercultural.
  • A teaching orientation: willingness to mentor junior team members.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in business, technology, or another field related to our work.

Preferred Experience

  • Strategy consulting and/or digital marketing knowledge.
  • Familiarity with GenAI concepts: RAG, agents, prompting, context engineering.
  • Exposure to a major AI or cloud platform (Google, Anthropic, OpenAI; GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • Experience contributing to proposals or thought leadership.

Why you should join us

We are united by our values and strengthened by our hybrid expertise.

  • There is always a way: We're from the breed of does, of diggers, of makers. Because ideas are valuable only if executed.
  • Client trust is won on the field: Addressing client needs flows better hands on at their side.
  • If not used, it is useless: Our love for technology translates into a steep desire for adoption, true brilliance is about impact.
  • If not shared, our work is not done: Sharing knowledge is the best way to button up a mission, benefitting clients and colleagues.
  • We learn everyday: Tech is a land where everything move at the speed of light, you better be ready to challenge yourself.

How We Support Our People

In addition to our values-driven culture, we offer a range of benefits and programs designed to support our employees' growth and well-being, including:

  • Learning and Development: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of AI, data, and consulting experts who are committed to continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
  • Hybrid Flexibility: Our hybrid work model gives you the flexibility to balance collaboration, client needs, and personal commitments.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: We offer a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and paid parental leave.
  • Time to Recharge: We believe sustainable performance matters. That's why we offer unlimited paid time off, giving you the flexibility to take the time you need.
  • Growth Opportunities: As a rapidly growing organization, you'll have the opportunity to expand your skills, take on new challenges, and help shape the future of the company.

The estimated base compensation for this role is $125,000 - $135,000 (NYC location). Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, this role is eligible for competitive benefits.
