Day Shift - 7am to 7pm
The University of Miami (UHealth) Department of MICU/SICU at the UTower in Miami has an exciting opportunity for a full time Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. The incumbent is responsible for the direct and indirect care of his/her assigned patients, and the supervision of assigned personnel. He/she will also report to the medical director and nursing director. The position requires the ability to assess patient's condition, formulate a plan of care, and evaluate a patient's response to care and treatment. Responsible for the continuous development and ongoing clinical management of the patients in UHealth system. This will be accomplished while carrying out the Mission, Goals and Objectives of University of Miami Hospital, while focusing on the patients, physicians and the employees as customers.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs and documents complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories.
  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  • Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability.
  • Assists with the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Master's degree in relevant field required
Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida APRN license required
Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements
Experience:
Minimum (3)years of critical care experience as Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNPC-AG) and greater.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
