Plumbing Designer / 3D Modeler - Comstock Park MI

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Designer / 3D Modeler to join our team. This role is responsible for developing detailed tankless water heating and plumbing system designs for commercial projects. It requires a strong understanding of plumbing system function, fluid dynamics, fixtures and layouts, as well as the ability to envision designs.

SUMMARY: Create designs, 3D models and layouts for fabrication and submittal packages in a timely and accurate manner, applying knowledge from previous projects to new assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of tankless water heating systems - i.e. plumbing, piping, and related components - using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare drawings, schematics, and specifications for plumbing and piping systems.
  • Perform standard calculations related to domestic water, vent and gas systems.
  • Route piping, plumbing, and related systems per company standards, showing all components, factoring in existing features and code requirements, and routing around other trades.
  • Translate mechanical piping and instrumentation diagrams (P amp;IDs) to 3D models
  • Indicate pipe sizes, materials, specifications, notes, and other required information on drawings.
  • Perform calculations for system sizing.
  • Create fabrication and customer layout drawings from 3D models.
  • Review physical equipment for projects.
  • Support engineering, sales and customers with technical designs and documentation from production through commissioning.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical input.
  • Identify and promptly communicate issues that need clarification to leadership.
  • Communicate using clear verbal and written communication.
  • Employ a sense of urgency.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Of legal hiring age and authorized to work in US
  • Completion/pursuit of associates' or bachelor's degree infield (or equivalent combination of work experience/training)
  • 2 years of experience in plumbing system design for commercial projects
  • Understanding of how plumbing works, both independently and when integrated with building systems / controls
  • Full proficiency with AutoCAD 2024, 2D amp; 3D (will consider SolidWorks)
  • The ability to visualize piping and plumbing systems in 3D
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality drawings.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills - both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes (UPC, IPC, etc) preferred
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
