What is a full stack software developer?

Full Stack Software Developers are professionals skilled in both front-end and back-end web development. They are capable of designing, building, and maintaining all parts of a web application, including user interfaces, server-side logic, databases, and integration with other services. Their expertise allows them to work on entire projects from start to finish, making them versatile and valuable team members. Full Stack Developers typically use a variety of programming languages and frameworks to accomplish their tasks.

How do full stack software developers typically balance front-end and back-end responsibilities within a team?

Full Stack Software Developers are often expected to seamlessly switch between front-end and back-end tasks, depending on the project's needs and the team's structure. In most environments, you may collaborate closely with UI/UX designers for front-end work and with DevOps or database specialists for back-end aspects. Balancing these responsibilities requires good communication and adaptability, as priorities can shift rapidly during a development cycle. Over time, you may find opportunities to specialize further or advance into technical leadership roles, depending on your strengths and interests.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full stack software developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Software Developer, you need strong proficiency in both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java) technologies, often supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp experience. Familiarity with frameworks like React or Angular, databases like MongoDB or SQL, version control systems (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms is typically expected, alongside certification in relevant technologies being a plus. Problem-solving, effective communication, and adaptability distinguish top performers in this field. These skills and qualities enable developers to build robust, scalable applications and collaborate efficiently across the software development lifecycle.

Seeking an experienced Full-Stack Developer to join its growing AI team. Our current portfolio includes applications for paid-claims review, multi-vendor parts sourcing, outbound lead management, and representative training, built with Angular front ends andASP.NET Core (.NET 10) APIs.
This role combines new development with ownership of applications already in production. You'll troubleshoot issues reported by users, improve performance and reliability, keep the technology stack current, build new features end to end, and maintain integrations with critical business systems. You'll also work with AI-enabled functionality, including applications that use LLMs and AI agents to review claims and score risk.

  • Support and improve production applications, resolving user-reported issues, performance bottlenecks, and edge cases
  • Build new features end to end using Angular, TypeScript, C#, andASP.NET Core
  • Maintain and modernize applications through Angular upgrades, dependency updates, vulnerability patching, and database migrations
  • Diagnose and optimize slow queries and application performance
  • Maintain integrations with SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Salesforce, and third-party vendor APIs
  • Support and monitor LLM and AI-agent functionality embedded within production applications
  • Containerize and deploy applications using Docker and GitHub Actions
  • Support application authentication and access using Active Directory and LDAPS
  • Work within existing codebases, understand established design decisions, and make thoughtful, maintainable changes
  • Collaborate in a fast-moving environment where solutions are shipped, measured, and iterated based on real-world results
Requirements
  • Strong full-stack software development experience in a production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with C# andASP.NET Core/.NET.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL; SQL Server experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining applications after production launch.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues, analyze existing code, and implement durable fixes.
  • Comfortable working from evolving requirements and independently driving features from development through deployment.
  • Experience with REST APIs and third-party system integrations.
  • Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub Actions preferred.
  • Experience with Active Directory, LDAP/LDAPS, or enterprise authentication preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Salesforce integrations preferred.
  • Interest in building AI-enabled applications and working with LLMs or AI agents.
  • Must be able to work on-site in St. Peters, MO 5 days/week.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or equivalent experience.
Pay Rate and Benefits
  • Salary commensurate with experience
