Job description

Network Migration Support Engineer

A client of ours is undertaking a large-scale network infrastructure replacement and migration initiative spanning multiple data closets and facilities. These individuals will play a critical role in coordinating migration activities, managing physical infrastructure moves, updating network documentation and management systems, and ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruption to business and clinical operations. While the internal networking team will be responsible for major configurations and after-hours cutovers, these resources will focus on project coordination, implementation support, and validation activities during standard business hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate network migration activities with internal IT teams, contractors, and third-party vendors
  • Assist with racking, un-racking, and relocating network equipment within data closets
  • Support cabling migrations and physical infrastructure upgrades involving switches, routers, and related network hardware
  • Track and document equipment moves, asset inventories, and cabling changes
  • Coordinate IP address updates and work with technical teams to validate connectivity and functionality following migrations
  • Maintain and update network management platforms, including:
    • Cisco ISE
    • Infoblox (IPAM)
    • Cisco Catalyst Center (or similar network management tools)
  • Communicate effectively with networking, server, application, operations, and clinical IT teams to minimize service disruptions
  • Perform post-migration validation and troubleshooting related to connectivity, cabling, and system access
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation, network diagrams, migration schedules, labeling standards, and rollback plans
  • Support project execution during normal business hours and coordinate handoffs for evening and overnight cutover activities
