Lead Full Stack Android Engineer:

Digitalturbine

Durham, NC • On-site

Full-time

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

At Digital Turbine, we make mobile advertising experiences more meaningful and rewarding for users, app publishers, and advertisers - intelligently connecting people in more ways, across more devices. We provide app publishers and advertisers with powerful ads and experiences that captivate consumers, fuel performance, and help telecoms and OEMs supercharge awareness, acquisition, and monetization. In a rapidly evolving industry, we are constantly innovating and creating better paths of discovery to connect consumers, publishers, and advertisers across the mobile ecosystem.

Please note that Digital Turbine is a hybrid work environment-only candidates local to the posting location will be considered.

Digital Turbine runs on small, autonomous pods that own an outcome and a roadmap end to end. We hire engineers, not language specialists: we care that you can reason about systems, pick the right tool for the problem, and ship reliable software across the stack.

As a Lead Full Stack Android Engineer, you will drive the technical direction and architecture for the critical product surfaces that bring our marketplace together - campaign management and creation, unified dashboards and reporting, audience and asset tooling, and the APIs that connect demand to supply. You will provide technical leadership across front-end, back-end, and data engineering, steering the unified product architecture at the heart of our FY27 roadmap. The underlying platform requires heavy back-end engineering, low-latency optimization, and sophisticated algorithmic problem-solving to manage massive throughput and real-time marketplace dynamics

About the Lead Full Stack Android Engineer:

  • Architect & Execute: Lead the design, architecture, and execution of high-impact, full-stack features-from responsive web front-ends to scalable back-end services and APIs-that power campaign management, reporting, and marketplace optimization

  • Technical Strategy: Establish the technical direction across a polyglot stack, ensuring the front end remains lightweight by strategically pushing complex computational logic, data modeling, and heavy algorithmic weight into robust, highly scalable back-end services

  • System Integration: Drive the design and integration of robust, well-designed APIs that unify DT products into a cohesive ecosystem, breaking down potential silos

  • Operational Excellence: Take end-to-end accountability for service reliability, defining standards for testing, observability, performance, and on-call rotation while fostering a culture of collective quality

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner directly with product leads and key stakeholders to shape the technical roadmap, translate business requirements into architecture, and lead scoping and estimation efforts within your pod

  • Mentorship & Standards: Champion engineering excellence by mentoring team members, conducting rigorous code reviews, driving automation, and establishing pragmatic architectural best practices

About you as the Lead Full Stack Android Engineer:

  • Platform Leadership: 5+ years of experience architecting and shipping production platforms, with a heavy, proven focus on backend architecture, system design, and deep code optimization

  • Advanced Problem Solving: Strong algorithmic fundamentals, data structures, and a proven track record of leading solutions for complex data-processing or resource optimization problems

  • Polyglot Mindset: Demonstrated capability to be highly effective in more than one language/ecosystem (eg, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, Scala, or C++)-with a mindset that optimizes for the problem, not a single tool

  • Full-Stack Mastery: Solid command of modern front-end frameworks (eg, React) and back-end service design, paired with deep experience utilizing relational and/or distributed data stores (MySQL, PostgreSQL, and similar)

  • Engineering Fundamentals: Strong foundational expertise in API design, data modeling, testing methodology, and large-scale system design

  • Autonomous Impact: Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, driving results and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), containers, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Exposure to the AdTech domain, dashboards/BI surfaces, or high-throughput, data-driven products

  • Experience integrating ML or data services into live product workflows
