Full Stack Frontend Developer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Stack Frontend Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Frontend Developer, you should have a solid grasp of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and at least one backend language or framework, often supported by a relevant degree or prior experience. Familiarity with tools like React, Node.js, version control systems (like Git), and deployment platforms is typically expected. Standout soft skills include problem-solving, adaptability, and strong communication for effective collaboration across teams. These skills are crucial for building responsive, scalable web applications and ensuring smooth integration between frontend and backend systems.

How does a Full Stack Frontend Developer typically collaborate with backend developers and designers on projects?

As a Full Stack Frontend Developer, you’ll regularly work alongside backend developers to ensure seamless integration between the user interface and server-side logic. Collaboration often involves reviewing API documentation, participating in sprint planning, and troubleshooting issues that arise at the intersection of frontend and backend systems. You’ll also work with designers to translate UI/UX mockups into functional, responsive components, providing technical feedback to optimize user experiences. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for delivering cohesive, high-quality applications.

What is a Full Stack Frontend Developer?

A Full Stack Frontend Developer is a software professional who specializes in building both the user-facing (frontend) and server-side (backend) components of web applications, with a primary focus on frontend technologies. They are proficient in languages and frameworks like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or Angular for the frontend, while also understanding backend languages such as Node.js, Python, or PHP. This dual expertise allows them to work across the entire development stack, making them valuable in projects that require seamless integration between the user interface and server logic.

Job description

Description

BetterBody Foods & Nutrition is hiring a Full Stack Developer to join our growing Data & Analytics team. You'll work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to build internal tools and maintain customer-facing web experiences. We move quickly and expect you to be comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Codex, Claude Code) to ship software across the stack.

In this role, you will build new features, influence technical direction, and create software that directly supports teams across marketing, sales, ecommerce, and product development. We are looking for someone who is curious, motivated to learn, and excited to grow their technical skillset while making a meaningful impact on the business. This is a good fit for a self-taught or early-career developer who takes initiative and learns fast.

End Goal of This Role:

The goal of this role is to deliver reliable, user-friendly software that improves how teams work, starting with internal analytics and operational tools. You'll also help us set a good baseline for how we build and maintain web apps as the company grows.

What You'll Do:

Build and maintain internal tools that support reporting, analytics, and operational workflows across the organization.
Develop and maintain customer-facing web applications and websites.
Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify success criteria, and turn requests into well-scoped technical tasks.
Translate business processes into simple, scalable solutions (e.g., forms, dashboards, approvals, and automation).
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to prototype, implement, test, and iterate quickly, while keeping the code clean and reliable.
Contribute to both frontend and backend development, with a slight emphasis on frontend work.
Assist with database design and data modeling as needed based on project requirements.
Work with modern frameworks and cloud platforms to deploy and maintain applications.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure the code is solid and maintainable.
Help improve development practices as the engineering function grows.

  • PTO
  • Sick Days (separate from PTO)

Requirements

 Who You Are:

You are early in your software development career and eager to learn and grow in a full stack role.
You enjoy working across the stack and are comfortable switching between frontend and backend tasks.
You like building new tools and features and having a direct impact on how the business runs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Self-driven and able to work independently while keeping the team aligned on progress, risks, and next steps.
Strong attention to detail and pride in shipping high-quality work.
Proven problem-solving mindset to analyze processes, troubleshoot issues, and propose practical improvements.
You take your work seriously but don't take yourself too seriously. You thrive in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.

Need To Have:

Comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Codex, Claude Code) to accelerate coding, debugging, and learning.
Ability to build applications using TypeScript.
Working knowledge of React and modern frontend development practices.
Familiarity with Node.js and basic backend development concepts.
Experience using Git for version control.
Basic understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar).
Strong problem-solving skills, high ownership, and a bias toward shipping.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Have:

Experience with Next.js and modern React frameworks.
Familiarity with Tailwind CSS and component libraries such as Shadcn.
Exposure to PostgreSQL, BigQuery, or analytics-driven applications.
Experience deploying applications using platforms such as Vercel or cloud providers like GCP.
Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows (prompting, iterating on specs, using AI in debugging/testing), with good judgment about verification and code quality.
Coursework, bootcamp experience, or hands-on projects demonstrating full stack development skills.
Degree in Computer Science (or related field) and/or relevant certifications are a plus, but not required.

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid role with a requirement to work in-office in Lindon, UT three days per week.
You will work closely with analytics professionals and business leaders in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
