As Colorado's official health insurance marketplace, we are the only place to apply for financial help to lower the monthly cost of premiums. Position Summary:
The Senior Full Stack Developer (Front-end Specialist) is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise software applications using technologies including, but not limited to Angular, Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes. This role has a primary focus on frontend development and requires strong Angular expertise, including the ability to bring modern frontend engineering practices, enterprise-level design patterns, reusable component strategies, performance optimization, and technical guidance to delivery teams. Working as part of a delivery team, the Senior Full Stack Developer supports new and existing products that improve operational outcomes, enhance user experience, and contribute to measurable business and organizational objectives.
The role partners closely with other delivery teams, product, platform, user experience, security, infrastructure, quality assurance, and other internal and external stakeholders as needed to deliver high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate should be familiar with modern product development practices and comfortable leveraging AI-enabled tools to accelerate prototyping, development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This position requires strong technical execution, collaboration, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality technical solutions based on product requirements, business priorities, and delivery team objectives.
  • Actively participate in product development ceremonies, planning discussions, backlog refinement, and technical design sessions to support product roadmap delivery.
  • Partner with product leaders, domain experts, architects, security, platform, infrastructure, and cross functional delivery teams to clarify requirements, identify risks, and design scalable solutions.
  • Contribute product discovery, solution design, user experience, operational effectiveness, product adoption, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Analyze functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, reliability, scalability, security, accessibility, maintainability, and operational support needs.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, deploy, document, and maintain full stack applications using technologies including, but not limited to, Angular 17 or higher, Java 17, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Message Queues, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and enhance APIs, services, integrations, user interfaces, database components, and backend business logic for new and existing applications.
  • Identify, assess, and recommend solutions to address technical debt, improve system stability, and increase long-term maintainability.
  • Establish, promote, and follow engineering best practices, coding standards, secure development practices, code review expectations, and documentation standards.
  • Evaluate user needs and system requirements; prepare technical specifications, solution designs, workflow diagrams, and implementation documentation as needed.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions in partnership with delivery teams and support groups.
  • Support software delivery through CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment processes, monitoring, observability, and operational readiness practices.
  • Deploy and improve software tools, development processes, automation, and engineering metrics that improve quality, predictability, and team efficiency.
  • Use sound judgment to evaluate technical alternatives, incorporate feedback from customers and internal stakeholders, and recommend practical solutions aligned with product strategy and organizational goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, modern development practices, cloud-native architecture, containerization, security standards, and AI-enabled development tools.
  • Mentor and support other developers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a directly related field and/or equivalent years of work experience. 5+ years of progressive experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise applications and software systems.
  • Deep Angular expertise, including modern capabilities such as standalone components, Signals, inject-based dependency injection, optimized change detection, complex state management, responsive design, and reusable component libraries.
  • Proven track record leading front-end governance, including defining organization-wide coding standards, naming conventions, and scalable file structures.
  • Expert proficiency in architecting Common Component Libraries designed for high reusability.
  • Significant experience in the creation, versioning, and maintenance of Customized Angular Libraries shared across multiple distributed project teams to ensure code consistency and reduced redundancy.
  • Experience collaborating closely with UX/UI teams; proficiency in translating Figma designs into functional, accessible components.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem, including but not limited to Spring Web, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
  • Hands-on experience developing, packaging, and deploying applications within containerized architecture (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with architecting and developing applications that support zero downtime deployments.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, customer experience, or operational effectiveness.
  • Proven experience architecting and developing solutions that fully leverage AWS/Cloud platforms.
  • Strong experience writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex SQL queries, with solid data analysis and quantitative skills.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices, such as CI/CD security considerations, automated testing, or vulnerability scanning, is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, methods and tools for analyzing and developing software tests and evaluation procedures.
  • Ability to work within a very fast-paced, quickly evolving organization, managing multiple complex priorities and responding effectively to change.
  • The candidate must be a committed team player with exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Affordable Care Act or health insurance industries is highly preferred.

Work Environment:
  • Currently working remotely.
  • The Connect for Health Colorado office is in the North Tech Center area of Denver, near the intersection of I-25 and I-225.
  • Work schedule may include some non-traditional hours, weekends, and evening events.
  • Core office hours are typically 8 am-5 pm with some flexibility.

Connect for Health Colorado offers a competitive benefits package.
