Job description

Mineral King Radiological Medical Group

Mineral King Radiological Medical Group is a private practice in Visalia that s been around for over 50 years and has 10 partnered radiologists. Mineral King is associated with Kaweah Health Medical Center which is a 581-bed hospital with level III trauma designation. They staff the main hospital and their outpatient imaging center as well as their own outpatient imaging center. The group also owns their own outpatient interventional radiology center.

  • Radiology Software: Synapse PACS
  • EMR: Cerner and Fuji
  • Dictation: PowerScribe
  • RPAs on Staff: 3 PA s and will add a fourth PA soon
  • Reason for recruitment: There are a couple partners nearing retirement
Position Overview Interventional Radiologist

We are seeking a Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained Interventional Radiologist to join a growing and well-established private radiology practice. While CAQ certification in Interventional Radiology is preferred, it is not required.

Schedule & Workflow
  • Hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • Call:
    • Weekday IR call: 1:4 (5:00 PM 8:00 AM)
    • Weekend IR call: 1:4 (48-hour coverage)
Practice Structure
  • Practice Mix: Approximately % Interventional Radiology, with the remaining time in General Diagnostic Radiology
  • Case Volume:
    • IR/procedure volumes vary daily
    • When not performing procedures, IR physicians may assist with plain film interpretation
    • All radiologists rotate through a cross-sectional reading schedule
  • Procedure Locations:
    • Most IR time is spent in the hospital angiography suite, performing inpatient procedures
    • Additional time in the physician-owned outpatient IR center (OBL)
Interventional Procedures

The role includes a wide variety of vascular and non-vascular interventions, including but not limited to:

  • High-acuity trauma interventions (Level III Trauma Center)
  • Varicose vein treatments
  • UFE (Uterine Fibroid Embolization)
  • GAE (Genicular Artery Embolization)
  • ERSD access procedures
  • Planned launch of a Y-90 program in 2025
Team & Support
  • Currently 4 Interventional Radiologists on the team
  • One physician is transitioning off call, opening this position

This opportunity offers a dynamic and supportive environment with access to advanced technology, a collegial team, and a strong referral base. Ideal for a physician seeking a mix of complex IR cases and diagnostic work within a high-quality, physician-owned practice.

Compensation

  • Guaranteed Starting Base Salary: 550,000 a year, potential for additional earned compensation
  • Sign-on Bonus: $100,000
  • Relocation: up to $15,000
  • Student Loan repayment: $100,000
  • Internal Moonlighting opportunities available
  • Vacation: 8 weeks 1st year, 10 weeks 2nd year and 12 weeks 3rd year
  • Partnership Track: 2 years
    • Buy-in Typically covered by first bonus On average around $40,000
    • Total Earning Potential/Salary structure once partner: $750,000-$900,000+

Mineral King Radiological Medical Group is located in the Central Valley, in the heart of California. The group prides itself on providing a great life - work balance, where your evenings are free to spend with friends and family and many exciting activities close by for the weekends. Visalia is the gateway to the Sequoia National Park, home to the General Sherman, the world's largest tree. Only 1-2 hours away from both the Sequoia National Park and Yosemite National Park. It would take years to complete all the possible hikes, as well as other outdoor activities, like boating, caving, mountain bike trails, snow sledding and skiing. Visalia is located 3 hours South of San Francisco and 2.5 hours North of Los Angeles. There are many coastal towns to enjoy as well, with easy day trip access.
