Job Summary

The Fuel Handling Supervisor monitors the receipt, processing, storage and delivery of primary fuels for the safe, efficient, and legal operation of the Newton Power Plant.
This role will pay between $115,000 to $120,000 annually depending upon skills and experience. This role is also eligible for bonus and benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents.

Job Description

Overview:

The Fuel Handling Supervisor monitors the receipt, processing, storage and delivery of primary fuels for the safe, efficient, and legal operation of the Newton Power Plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises bargaining unit personnel and Serve as a member of the management team.
  • Coordinates activities of Fuel Processing to ensure effective and efficient planning of resource usage (manpower, contractors, money, machines, methods, and materials). Identifies maintenance needs and sets priorities for repair.
  • Participates in budget development for Operations, Maintenance and capital items.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality of personnel and/or other company related matters.
  • Ensures that the current labor agreement is administered accurately. Manages small to medium sized projects.
  • Responsible for the implementation of protective permits and tags in accordance with established procedures.
  • Analyzes reports from Fuel Processing Control Systems.
  • Assumes the leadership role in resolving problems with the Fuel Processing and Ash Plant equipment, production process, or manpower.
  • Inspects Fuel Processing for compliance with company policy and requirements of regulatory agencies including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Monitors train locations and movement. Inputs data into company Fuel Inventory Systems (FIS).
  • Effectively communicates information related to Fuel Processing. Interfaces with corporate fuels group as well and plant employees and contractors.
  • Leads Fuel Processing training to increase plant efficiency, safety, and ensure the necessary skill development in employees. Participates in the grievance process, as required.
  • Performs other related management and technical functions as required to accomplish the foregoing essential functions. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • The amount of experience required in addition to the minimum level of education: Five years' experience in a bulk handling and storage industry (such as coal, cement, or other related areas), with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have good analytical, human relations, and communication skills.
