We're seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our fuels testing laboratory team in Coppell, TX.
In this role, you'll perform ASTM and API analytical testing on a wide range of petroleum and fuel products, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol, biodiesel, and crude oil. You will operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, ensure data accuracy within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and contribute to a high-throughput laboratory environment where quality, safety, and turnaround time are critical.
What You'll Do
  • Perform sample preparation and analytical testing on petroleum and fuel products in accordance with ASTM, API, ISO, and internal SOPs
  • Collect fuel and petroleum product samples from storage tanks and other designated sampling locations, including accessing elevated sampling points via fixed stairways
  • Conduct routine fuel analysis, including sulfur, flash point, distillation, vapor pressure, density/API gravity, oxidation stability, water content, contamination, and fuel quality testing
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and analytical equipment
  • Analyze and interpret results, identifying trends and out-of-specification conditions and escalating as needed
  • Record, review, and validate analytical data within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Support fuel quality assurance and regulatory compliance programs through accurate laboratory testing
  • Safely handle hazardous, flammable, and pressurized materials in a laboratory environment
  • Maintain laboratory organization, sample tracking, inventory management, and housekeeping practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related scientific field required; equivalent hands-on laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Previous hands-on analytical laboratory experience strongly preferred, preferably within petroleum, fuels, lubricants, energy, or oil & gas testing environments
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer applications
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Work Schedule & Environment
  • Full-time position following a Monday - Friday schedule
  • Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required
  • Flexibility to work outside of scheduled hours, including evenings or weekends, as required to meet operational or workload needs

Physical Requirements
  • Ability tosafely climb fixed stairways at elevated heights to access storage tanks and collect samples while following established safety procedures
