Job description

Company Overview:
Alliance Texas Fuel Services (ATFS), a subsidiary of Alliance Aviation Services, oversees the safe and efficient operation of the City of Fort Worth's above-ground fuel farm, located at the Fort Worth Maintenance Base. The facility houses seven fuel tanks with a combined capacity of just over 200,000 gallons.
ATFS specializes in the transfer of aviation Jet-A fuel to its customers through an underground hydrant distribution system. In addition to fuel farm operations, ATFS deploys a fleet of commercial fuel trucks to support air carrier activities throughout Alliance Airport. With a focus on reliability, safety, and seamless service, ATFS plays a vital role in powering the region's aviation infrastructure.
Position Summary:
Alliance Texas Fuel Services (ATFS) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fuel Operations Specialist to join our team in Fort Worth, TX. Reporting directly to the Director of ATFS, this role is responsible for performing essential functions in aircraft ground handling, fueling operations, and the day-to-day management of the ATFS fuel farm. The Fuel Operations Specialist ensures full compliance with all standards and regulatory requirements issued by the City of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Fire Department, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Air Transport Association (ATA 103). This individual also supports airport operations and aircraft servicing in coordination with the Fixed Base Operator (FBO), while assisting with additional tasks as needed to ensure smooth and safe fuel service delivery.
Responsibilities:
Fuel Farm Operations:
  • Ensure the fuel farm is fully operational and prepared for customer activity at all times.
  • Complete the daily checklist and required documentation during assigned shifts.
  • Accurately order, track, and manage Jet-A fuel inventory to support ongoing operations.

Regulatory Compliance:
  • Maintain strict compliance with ATA 103 guidelines.
  • Adhere to all NFPA 407 safety protocols.
  • Follow operational standards set by MIL-STD-1548H.

Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Clean, inspect, and maintain ground handling equipment and support vehicles to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of all fuel trucks.

Team Participation and Support:
  • Attend scheduled company meetings, trainings, and safety briefings throughout the year.
  • Assist with aircraft cargo loading and unloading procedures as needed.
  • Support Fixed Base Operator (FBO) operations during peak activity periods and special aviation events.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support clear and accurate reporting.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and see projects through to completion without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to upholding ATFS's workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions that improve efficiency without compromising safety or standards.
  • Ability to operate Fuel Management Software to monitor and manage fuel system performance.
  • Ability to utilize standard office equipment, including copy and fax machines.
  • Ability to operate VHF Aircraft Radios for communication and coordination.
  • Skilled in operating a wide range of aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Education and Experience:
  • Highschool diploma required; college coursework or technical training preferred.
  • Prior experience in fuel farm operations, fuel quality assurance, and basic mechanical systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with forklift operation and related ground handling equipment.
  • Hands-on experience operating large commercial aircraft fuel trucks.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during shifts.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching required.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in high-noise environments and around moving aircraft and equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and physical coordination required for operating tools and machinery.

Working Hours:
  • This position requires full time employment of a minimum of 40 hours a week. Shifts include 1st (0600-1430), 2nd (1400-2230), Split (0900-1730) and 3rd (2200-0630). Personnel may have to work holidays and additional hours when needed.
  • In addition, overtime maybe expected during special events or high activity situations. Advance notice will be given when possible; however, the candidate should acknowledge that no-notice overtime will be needed on occasion. Management will prevent this as much as a possible.
  • This position requires all personnel to participate with the on-call policy. While on-call personnel are subject to participate in after hour activity if needed. Personnel are expected to respond to all calls in a timely manner. It is understood that they are some exceptions to this requirement. Vacations and family emergencies qualify as times where a timely response is not expected.
