To help us in our mission to professionalize and innovate telecom construction, ByVerTek is now seeking a dependable and motivated Construction Laborer to support underground telecommunications and broadband construction projects. In this hands-on role, you will assist construction crews with site preparation, trenching, conduit and fiber installation, and general labor activities that keep projects moving safely and efficiently. The Construction Laborer plays a vital role in maintaining job site organization, supporting skilled trades, and adhering to safety protocols while working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. *We are specifically looking for candidates with prior Labor experience working in UG FTTH (Underground Fiber-To-The-Home), preferably with Hexatronic fiber optics.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving construction materials and equipment on site.
  • Prepare and clean construction sites by removing debris, hazardous materials, and obstacles.
  • Support skilled tradespeople by providing necessary tools, materials, and assistance during various phases of construction.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently as directed by supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and assembling temporary structures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and report any issues or hazards.
  • Install conduit, handholes, and fiber optic cables.
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Assist equipment operators and management as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and willingness to follow safety protocols.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license or reliable transportation to and from the job site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in construction or a related labor-intensive field.
  • Familiarity with common construction tools and equipment.
  • Certification in OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction safety training.
  • Basic knowledge of construction site layout and terminology.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Experience in excavation is helpful.

Working Conditions & Exposure:

  • Primarily field-based role requiring regular travel to job sites.
  • Work performed outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on project needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction environments.

  • Manual dexterity required to operate tools, equipment, and computer devices.
  • Ability to wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and protective eyewear and lead safe construction processes by example to prevent injury prevention (i.e. vehicle use, construction processes, bending and lifting safety).
