Frp Installer information

What is an FRP installer?

FRP installers are professionals who specialize in installing Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) panels, which are commonly used for wall and ceiling coverings in commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. Their job involves preparing surfaces, measuring and cutting panels, applying adhesives, and ensuring a secure and seamless installation. FRP installers must follow manufacturer guidelines and safety standards to ensure durable, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing results, especially in environments like kitchens, bathrooms, hospitals, and food processing facilities.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an FRP installer?

To thrive as an FRP Installer, you need experience with construction or industrial installation, knowledge of reading blueprints, and familiarity with fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) materials. Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as safety certifications such as OSHA, are typically required. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork make someone stand out in this position. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring safe, precise, and efficient installations that meet industry standards.

What are common challenges faced by FRP installers on construction sites?

FRP Installers often encounter challenges such as working in tight or awkward spaces, ensuring precise alignment of panels, and maintaining safety standards when handling heavy or oversized materials. The role frequently involves collaborating with other trades to coordinate installation schedules and address site-specific requirements. Additionally, weather conditions or unexpected structural obstacles can sometimes affect the installation process, requiring adaptability and strong problem-solving skills.

Job description

We are growing and seeking skilled, reliable construction professionals to join our team specializing in full-scale commercial remodels and renovations of convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery/retail locations. This hands-on role involves all phases of interior remodel work — from demolition through finish installations — to modernize store layouts, improve functionality, and enhance customer experience. Projects typically include updating sales floors, checkout areas, coolers, backrooms, and more. Ideal for experienced carpenters, remodel technicians, or multi-trade construction workers who thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven retail environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform interior demolition: safely remove existing fixtures, cabinetry, countertops, drywall, flooring, drop ceilings, shelving, and other elements while protecting adjacent areas and minimizing dust/debris.
  • Frame and build structural elements: install metal or wood stud framing for walls, partitions, bulkheads, and soffits as needed for new layouts.
  • Install drywall: measure, cut, hang, tape, mud, and finish sheetrock to prepare for final surfaces.
  • Apply FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) panels: install FRP wall panels in high-moisture areas like food prep, coolers, restrooms, and behind counters for durability and easy cleaning.
  • Install drop/suspended ceilings: set up grid systems, cut and place acoustic or specialty ceiling tiles, and integrate lighting fixtures or HVAC diffusers.
  • Perform tile work: install ceramic, porcelain, or vinyl tile flooring, cove base, and wall tile in sales areas, restrooms, and break rooms (includes layout, cutting, thin-set/mortar application, grouting, and sealing).
  • Install metal cabinets, shelving, and countertops: accurately measure, level, and secure stainless steel, powder-coated metal, or laminate cabinets, gondola shelving, display cases, and commercial-grade countertops.
  • Relocate and reinstall equipment: safely disconnect, move, and reconnect retail equipment such as coolers, freezers, gondolas, POS systems, shelving units, refrigeration cases, and other fixtures (basic electrical/plumbing knowledge a plus for minor hookups).
  • Maintain clean, safe job sites: daily cleanup, debris removal, dust control, and adherence to OSHA/safety protocols in occupied retail stores.
  • Collaborate with team leads, subcontractors (e.g., electricians, plumbers), store management, and vendors to meet project timelines.
  • Provide progress updates, photos, and reports as required.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial construction, retail remodels, interior finish work, or related fields (convenience store/gas station/grocery remodel experience strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency in multiple trades: framing, drywall hanging/finishing, drop ceiling installation, tile setting, and cabinet/countertop installation.
  • Experience working with metal cabinets, FRP panels, and commercial equipment relocation.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record (travel to job sites required; company vehicle may be provided for out-of-town projects).
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders/scaffolding, and perform physical labor for full shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work efficiently under tight remodel schedules (often overnight or off-hours to minimize store disruption).
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel regionally/nationally as projects demand (home time scheduled).
  • Basic hand/power tools (or willingness to acquire); company provides specialty tools and safety equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school/vocational training in carpentry/construction a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
