Job description

Location: New York, NY
Work Model: Onsite (in-person)
Industry: AI recruiting and talent marketplace (B2B SaaS)
Compensation: $35-$50 per hour
About the Company
TalentPluto is a Y Combinator-backed startup building the hiring stack for high-growth companies. We run two connected products: a talent network that places engineering, go-to-market, and operations people into fast-moving startups, and an AI recruiting tool that lets a hiring team run candidate search, tiered enrichment, rubric-based scoring, and outbound campaigns directly from their assistant. We work with dozens of venture-backed startups across AI, developer tools, fintech, and healthcare. The team is small and founder-led, and interns work on live problems rather than practice ones.
The Opportunity
This is a full stack engineering internship where the work ships to production. You will build user-facing features across the frontend and the services behind them, on a product used daily by both the companies hiring and the candidates in our network. Because the team is small, you will own features rather than tickets: you take a problem from a rough description, decide how it should work, build it, and watch real people use it.
The surface is unusually broad for an internship. We sit at the intersection of AI, recruiting, and labor markets, so the same week can include a React interface, the API and data model behind it, and an AI-driven workflow that has to be reliable enough for someone to trust its output. You do not need to have done all of that before, but you should want to.
Responsibilities
  • Build and ship user-facing features across the frontend and the backend services supporting them.
  • Work with APIs, data models, and databases, and extend them as features require.
  • Take features from a rough problem statement through design, implementation, and release.
  • Write code that other engineers can read and extend, and review theirs.
  • Investigate bugs and performance issues in production and fix the underlying cause.
Requirements
  • Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals.
  • Experience building with React, Next.js, or similar frontend frameworks.
  • Comfort learning backend systems, APIs, and databases.
  • Has shipped meaningful work before, whether side projects, class projects, open-source contributions, or a prior internship.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a willingness to learn quickly.
  • Clear communicator who can work independently.
  • Based in New York City and able to work onsite.
