FRONT DESK POSITION OVERVIEW:

A Front desk Representative is responsible for ensuring the clinic meets the required standards to be successful. This includes HIPAA rules, OSHA rules, Compliance rules and regulations against fraud and abuse. Assignments are made in terms of broad goals and objectives and the incumbent must apply considerable decision making and independent judgement in daily activities.ย 

FRONT DESK ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Recognize, greet and register patients in a polite, prompt and helpful mannerย 
  • Verify current informational statuses and collect insurance information, demographic information and signatures as neededย 
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, co-insurances and account balances. Post payments and process credit cardsย 
  • Obtain and process patient referrals/authorizations for treatment and consultationย 
  • Answer all phone calls and voice messages in a pleasant manner and handle patient needs expeditiouslyย 
  • Confirm next day appointmentsย 
  • Prepare all necessary documents for next day appointmentsย 
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments accurately and efficientlyย 
  • Pull and process medical records release requestsย ย 
  • Explain office policies to patients as neededย 

SALARY & BENEFITS:

$17.00-$20.00 Per hour

Requirements

FRONT DESK REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of two years' experience in healthcare settingย 
  • Knowledge of medical office proceduresย 
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applicationsย 
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuationย 
  • Skills in operating business office machinesย 
  • Skills in answering the telephone in a professional mannerย 
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructionย 
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, employees and the publicย 

FRONT DESK WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typical business office environmentย 
  • Possibility of local travelย 
  • Constant viewing of computer monitor, mousing and typingย 
  • Frequent standing, walking and sittingย 
  • Frequent stooping, lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling 10 pounds or moreย 
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsย 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focusย 
  • Hours of business are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be able to work early, late and long hours, as needed, to meet the essential functions of the jobย
