A front desk clerk interacts with visitors and guests and is typically the first impression a person has when entering an office or building. They can work for a variety of businesses, such as a hotel, doctor’s practice, or other office environments. Duties include many of the same as a receptionist, such as answering the phone, scheduling reservations or appointments, greeting guests as they arrive, and relaying complaints and issues to the proper channels. Customer service skills and some computer experience are often required. Other qualifications include a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate, a friendly demeanor, and passing a background check and drug test.
