Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
  • 1 year of experience with computer vision (image classification and processing, object detection, visual search), video generation, or signal processing.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

The Google Home Video Perception team is working on the most demanding challenges in the organization by building and deploying real-time camera video understanding to make the smart home truly intuitive and proactive. As a member of this team, you will be at the forefront of our top-priority AI initiatives, defining the future of Camera AI.
The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users' homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Research, train/fine-tune and apply state-of-the-art ML and LLM models to enhance video understanding quality.
