Job description

The Department of Urology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a dynamic, skilled General Urologist to join our distinguished faculty in a full-time position within our renowned Urology division. This individual will be responsible for patient care at the UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus or Mission Bay as well as outreach facilities in San Mateo County and the East Bay. The candidate will work in the outpatient clinic and operating room setting and will bring a strong academic interest in either education, research, or both.

Why UCSF?

  • Robust Surgical Practice: Perform advanced, high-complexity Urologic surgeries with access to cutting-edge robotic technology and multidisciplinary support.
  • Diverse Clinical Opportunities: Manage a broad spectrum of conditions in both outpatient and hospital settings, serving a richly diverse patient population.
  • Leadership & Growth: Ideal for candidates who aspire to influence program development, quality improvement, and hold administrative roles that shape the future of Urology at UCSF.
  • Academic Excellence: Collaborate with world-class researchers and educators in a vibrant academic setting.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Board-certified/eligible Urologist with a strong General Urologic skill set.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a vision for clinical and programmatic excellence.
  • Interest in mentorship, education, and administrative responsibilities.

What We Offer:

  • Faculty appointment in the UCSF School of Medicine (rank and step commensurate with experience).
  • Competitive compensation and UC benefits, including pension and health coverage.
  • Access to premier facilities, cutting-edge technologies, and UCSF’s integrated health system.
  • A culture of innovation, teamwork, and academic excellence.
  • Opportunities to grow in leadership, education, and research.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree.
  • Candidates must hold a California medical license or be eligible for full, unrestricted licensure by the time of hire.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Urology.

Why Live & Work in Parnassus & Mission Bay — A Physician’s Perspective

  • Living in Parnassus or Mission Bay means being at the heart of one of the most dynamic medical communities in the country. Whether you're walking to rounds at UCSF or collaborating on research across disciplines, these neighborhoods offer more than just proximity — they offer purpose.
  • Parnassus has a quiet, residential feel. It’s tucked into the hills near Golden Gate Park, with leafy streets, old Victorians, and a sense of calm that’s rare in a city. Mission Bay is sleek and modern, built for innovation. It’s where medicine meets biotech, and where new ideas get tested, scaled, and launched.
  • But life here isn’t just about work. You’re surrounded by culture — museums, music, food from every corner of the world. You can finish a long shift and be at the symphony or a street food festival within the hour. You can walk through eucalyptus forests, kayak along the bay, or grab dim sum with colleagues before heading home.
  • Transit is easy. Muni, Caltrain, BART — it’s all connected. Whether you’re commuting, catching a flight, or just heading across town, you’re covered.
  • And most importantly, there’s a sense of community. You’re not just another physician in a big city. You’re part of something — a network of people who care deeply about their work, their patients, and each other.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 The minimum base salary range for this position is $154,700-$405,900 This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.  Salary and bonus are dependent upon rank and production ranging from $371,000 to $650.000.
