Job description

Sovereign Insurance Group is launching a new SDR hiring cohort and is seeking multiple motivated Sales Development Representatives to join our team on August 3, 2026.
This is a structured development role for people who want to build a long-term career in commercial insurance sales. You will start alongside a group of peers, train together, learn the business together, and build the foundation to eventually move into a commercial insurance producer role.
You do not need prior commercial insurance experience or prior sales experience. What matters most is drive, coachability, communication ability, curiosity, and a willingness to learn a complex but rewarding industry.
Why Join Us?
  • A Real Development Path. This is not just a call-center role. The SDR position is designed to help you build the habits, insurance knowledge, and sales judgment needed for a long-term career in commercial insurance.
  • Learn by Doing. In addition to outbound prospecting, SDRs will have the opportunity to work on select small-business and in-house referral opportunities. This gives you direct experience with real accounts, real coverage questions, and real client conversations.
  • A Team-Based Cohort. You will start with a group of peers who are learning the same role at the same time. You will train together, hear what is working, learn from each other’s calls, and grow in a competitive but supportive environment.
  • Stability + Momentum. Sovereign has decades of history, a specialized market focus, and consistent growth. You get the benefit of joining a stable company with meaningful room to grow.
  • Impactful Work. Your activity directly supports new business growth. You will receive training, coaching, lead-generation support, and feedback from experienced insurance professionals.
  • Compensation Growth. This role includes a competitive base salary and bonus opportunities for strong performance. Leads generated through outbound prospecting will generally be referred to a Sovereign salesperson, but SDRs may also have the opportunity to work select small-business and in-house referral opportunities directly and earn commission dollars. The role is also a pathway into a Commercial Insurance Agent position, where long-term compensation can grow meaningfully through commissions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Generation. Proactively research and identify potential clients through online research, industry lists, social media, events, networking, and other lead-generation sources.
  • Outbound Outreach. Conduct outbound calls, emails, and other forms of communication to engage potential clients and introduce them to Sovereign Insurance Group’s services.
  • Qualification. Assess and qualify leads based on established criteria to ensure they fit the company’s target client profile.
  • Appointment Setting. Schedule meetings and appointments for the sales team with qualified leads and provide a clear handoff of relevant information.
  • Small Business and Referral Opportunities. Work on select inbound and in-house referral opportunities, helping qualify, quote, and place smaller commercial accounts while gaining hands-on insurance and sales experience.
  • Database Management. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all prospect interactions, leads, opportunities, and follow-ups in the company’s CRM system.
  • Collaboration. Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop and refine lead-generation strategies, outreach campaigns, and prospecting approaches.
  • Follow-Up. Conduct follow-up communication with potential clients to nurture relationships and move opportunities through the sales process.
  • Reporting. Provide regular updates on lead-generation activity, pipeline movement, prospect feedback, and results to management.

Requirements
  • An active Property & Casualty License is required prior to your start date. To support your success, new hires who obtain their license before onboarding are eligible for a licensing bonus incentive
  • Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to commute to the Berwyn, PA office full-time during the training period.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hunger to learn and grow in a new industry.
  • Coachable, curious, and willing to receive direct feedback.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing opportunities.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and starting conversations with new people.
  • Comfortable managing multiple prospects and opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organized and detail-oriented enough to maintain clean CRM records and follow-up activity.

Benefits
  • Bonus opportunities for exceptional work
  • Opportunity to earn commission dollars on select small-business and in-house referral opportunities
  • Health insurance, vision, dental, life insurance, and more, including an employer-sponsored HSA, paid coverage for employees, and cost-sharing for families
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • PTO and paid holidays to support work-life balance
  • Casual environment with a dedicated and professional team
  • Hands-on training with a supportive team
  • Opportunity to build a long-term career in a unique, challenging, and fulfilling industry
