Job description

Job Title: Behavioral Health Specialist (LCSW, Psychologist or Psychiatric CNS)
Position Type: Contract - Full Time

About the Opportunity:

Compass Medical Provider is seeking a qualified Behavioral Health Specialist to support medical readiness for Service Members by providing evaluations, case management and care coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening & Evaluation: Conduct initial and follow-up behavioral health screenings using clinical interviews and medical documentation. Identify provisional diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans in line with military standards.
  • Case Management: Manage a caseload (up to 300 Service Members) and track progress in systems such as MODS, MHS GENESIS, and MEDCHART.
  • Referrals & Coordination: Coordinate care by referring Service Members to civilian providers, MTFs, or VA facilities and ensure continuity of care.
  • Administrative Recommendations: Provide written clinical recommendations regarding duty status, including Line-of-Duty or incapacitation considerations.
  • Mobilization Support: Participate in readiness events (SRP/RSRP) and mobilization activities by reviewing records, identifying behavioral health concerns, and preparing required documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Education & License (one of the following required): Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program with an active, unrestricted clinical social worker license (LCSW), OR Master’s degree as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with an active, unrestricted license, OR Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Active, valid, and unrestricted license required
  • Experience in behavioral health, case management, or military populations preferred
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with AR 40-501 and AR 40-502 preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills; flexible and adaptable to changing environments
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Able to work long, active days with frequent movement between locations
  • Knowledge of military procedures (e.g., AR 40-501), military protocols, databases, and acronyms, preferred.
  • Possession of a CAC with access to MWDE and MHA, preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per day).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or supply boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination necessary for performing tasks safely and accurately.
