Job description

In this role, you will oversee and support Trade Advisors throughout the full project lifecycle, providing technical guidance, reviewing work products, and delivering constructive feedback on content quality, accuracy, and presentation.
The Supervisor will actively participate in client engagements, offering strategic guidance to project teams, managing client expectations, and proactively addressing and resolving potential issues or conflicts. This role also involves business development activities, including meeting with prospective clients, showcasing the team's expertise, evaluating project opportunities, and preparing proposals for consulting services.
Additionally, the Supervisor will be responsible for reviewing and approving project deliverables, analyses, and recommendations prepared by Trade Advisors, while independently managing assigned consulting projects to ensure high-quality outcomes, client satisfaction, and adherence to project objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Manager of Consulting & Client Services to establish departmental priorities, allocate resources, and ensure high-quality support for internal and external clients.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise Trade Advisors by providing technical guidance, training, coaching, and accountability for project execution and deliverables.
  • Assist Trade Advisors in defining project scope, prioritizing assignments, developing project plans, and delivering well-researched, practical, and professionally presented recommendations to clients.
  • Review and approve project deliverables, advisory opinions, formal correspondence, and consulting reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage complex, long-term, and time-sensitive consulting engagements, including Prior Disclosures, Risk Assessments, Audits, Compliance Program Development, HTS Classification Reviews, and USMCA/Free Trade Agreement eligibility determinations.
  • Conduct independent research and analysis of U.S. Customs regulations and related trade laws, applying findings to client-specific situations and consulting engagements.
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret ACE data, customs reports, and internal system data to identify trends, anomalies, compliance risks, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze and interpret information received from clients, government agencies, and third-party consultants to support project objectives and conclusions.
  • Coordinate with operational teams to ensure awareness of projects affecting shared clients and collaborate on issue resolution, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Provide training and educational support to clients on import compliance regulations through customized client sessions and structured, billable training programs.
  • Represent the organization through presentations, seminars, webinars, industry events, and client meetings, demonstrating technical expertise and thought leadership.

Travel of up to 10% as required.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, International Trade, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in customs brokerage, import compliance, trade compliance, customs consulting, or import/export auditing.
  • Valid U.S. Customs Broker License required.
  • CCS certification preferred.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing trade compliance professionals.
  • Experience managing complex, time-sensitive customs compliance and consulting projects.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import compliance requirements, tariff classification, and free trade agreements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with ACE reporting preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Hands-on experience conducting trade compliance audits, risk assessments, and compliance program development, including policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of internal controls, Trusted Trader programs (ISA and CTPAT Trade Compliance), and customs compliance best practices.
  • Experience managing Prior Disclosures, HTS classifications, customs valuation, country of origin determinations, and USMCA/other free trade agreement qualification reviews.
  • Experience with filing CBP Binding Rulings and AD/CVD scope determinations.
  • Experience developing and delivering import compliance training programs.
  • Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to build credibility and trust.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Strong project management skills, including scope definition, prioritization, planning, coordination of resources, and timely delivery of results.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

The salary range of compensation for this position will be $90,000-$125,000 based on experience and education.
