Job description

Cardiac Cath Lab Tech (ARRT, RCIS, RCES)

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Cardiovascular Technologist or Special Procedure Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients by demonstrating expertise in human growth, development, and assessment. You will work closely with our physicians, scrubbing in to assist during both diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies. This role requires a strong understanding of hemodynamic measurements and readings, specifically regarding valve areas, to ensure accurate monitoring and recording of every case. You will be a key part of our team, helping to make the procedural process as seamless as possible for our patients and their families.

What You Will Do In This Role

  • You will scrub and assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac as well as peripheral angiographic studies.

  • Monitor, record, and report any symptoms or changes in patient conditions to ensure safety.

  • Provide accurate and detailed documentation while using the Hemodynamic Monitoring System during procedures.

  • Assess, plan, and implement specialized care for each patient throughout their procedure.

  • React quickly to emergency situations, including responding to STEMIs within 30 minutes when you are on-call.

  • Offer hemodynamic monitoring assistance and apply your understanding of valve areas and pressures.

  • Prepare patients for their examinations or treatments and assist the medical team as needed.

  • Communicate important pre- and post-procedure education to patients and their loved ones.

  • Share your knowledge with your peers and take an active role in precepting our new team members.

  • Participate in departmental continuous quality improvement initiatives to keep our standards high.

  • Maintain your expertise by pursuing continuing education to stay current in your daily duties.

  • Uphold our facility’s Standards of Performance and stay committed to our ICARE values.

What Qualifications You Will Need

  • You must have a current license or registry certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or be ready to complete this advanced registration within one year of your hire date.

  • Alternatively, you may have a current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and be licensed through the ARRT as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)].

  • We also welcome candidates with a current license or registry as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

  • A current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.

  • You will need to complete your ACLS training within 6 months of joining the team.

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Cath Lab or EP Lab is preferred, though we are happy to consider new graduates from RCIS programs.

  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential for successfully interacting with our patients, guests, physicians, and your fellow employees.
