Spectra Tech is seeking a HVAC Mechanical Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN.

Job Description:

The job of an HVAC mechanical engineer involves researching, designing, fabricating, and installing HVAC mechanical equipment to meet client's requirements. They also consult on HVAC system and equipment design for a wide range of projects. The role of an HVAC engineer includes surveying sites ahead of fitting heating, ventilation or air conditioning systems, planning the placement of pipework, ducts and control panels, installing HVAC components, and performing quality checks to ensure systems are working efficiently and safely.

General Scope:

We are seeking a mechanical engineer with experience with large system HVAC replacements & facility renovations to prepare detailed scopes & cost estimates for HVAC system & facility renovation projects at ORNL. The person would need to be on site for at least a few days each week, with the possibility of some work from home hours as well. The candidate must be able to communicate and appear in a professional manner as they may need to present the findings to the lab director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience in HVAC systems and Mechanical Engineering
  • Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or HVAC systems

Work Arrangement:

  • The person would need to be on site for at least a few days each week, with the possibility of some work from home hours as well.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large system HVAC replacements & facility renovations
  • Bachelor's Degree in HVAC Systems or Mechanical Engineering
