Job description

At TKDA, our Water Resources team works to develop and implement practical, cost-effective, and maintenance-friendly stormwater control measures. Designs are balanced to minimize costs while providing ood control, enhancing water quality, and protecting wetlands, lakes, and rivers.
 
We are a team of engineers, hydrologists, scientists, designers, and technicians who work on a variety of projects related to designing, modeling, and developing storm water drainage and management systems for DOT, county, and city projects in the upper Midwest, Class I railroad projects nationwide, and other private client projects nationwide.
 
In this role, you will drive innovative water resource projects as either a Project Manager or Lead Technical Design Engineer. Shape sustainable solutions for our clients' most pressing challenges, and lead with expertise to make a meaningful environmental impact. Hybrid Work Environment: Tuesday - Thursday In-Office | Monday & Friday WFH
Responsibilities
  • Prepare design calculations and plans for a variety of design projects
  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary environment of team members
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of projects from preliminary design through construction
  • Leverage your technical knowledge to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced engineering professionals (graduate engineers, technicians, and interns)
  • Apply effective written and verbal communication skills when preparing technical reports and specifications, participating in project team discussions, and interacting with clients and contractors
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil (or similar) engineering with an emphasis on storm water, hydraulic design, and/or infrastructure design
  • Professional Engineer in the State of MN
  • Experience working on MNDOT projects
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience with water resources projects
  • Working knowledge with CADD platforms (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation Open Roads Designer)
  • Working knowledge of ArcMap, SWMM, HydroCAD, and/or HEC-RAS
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience leading the preparation of water resources related permits for projects (USCG Section 10; USACE Section 404/408; State level NPDES/SWPPP and wetlands; Local level floodplain, watershed district, irrigation district, etc.)
  • Previous project management experience or related responsibilities including: managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Previous experience collaborating with or leading a multi-disciplined project team
  • Previous experience assisting with market development activities to secure new contract opportunities including preparation of proposals and fee estimates
  • Prior experience or aspiration to establish, cultivate, and enhance relations with existing and prospective clients and stakeholders
$115,000 - $160,000 a year
The listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 12-25 years of related experience. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
