Job description


Job Summary and Responsibilities

15% PRN differential applies for this role!

As our Power Plant Operator at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood Colorado, you will help ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors by being responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing the equipment that provides power, heating, cooling, and ventilation to a hospital facility.

Every day you will operate power systems, provide routine maintenance and inspections, and conduct regular inspections. You will be expected to monitor and track energy usage, and follow safety protocols.  

To be successful in this role, you must use your problem solving abilities to diagnose and fix mechanical failures, and your attention to detail to monitor complex systems and detect issues before they escalate. As a Power Plant Operator, you are essential to keeping the hospital operational 24/7.

  • Performs routine maintenance, lubrication, cleaning of boilers, chillers and all central plant equipment. 
  • Maintains the mechanical equipment such as engines, compressors, generators, pumps and steam boilers during the respective shifts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Knowledge of boilers, pumps, gauges, heating units and systems, hand tools, generators, ventilation equipment, plumbing fixtures and heating and cooling distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of regulations imposed by local, state or other hospital authorities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems as necessary.
  • Proficient with multiple Building Automation System functions.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Certified Stationary Engineer
    • Underground Storage Tank Op A or B, State of Employment Class A/B UST Operator Certification 

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

Schedule Information: Can expect to work between 16-32 hours/pay period; 8 and 12 hour shifts are available.
