HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel nurse RN Cardiac Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Registered Nurse โ€“ PCU

Facility: The Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center
Location: Albuquerque, NM 87102
Start Date: 08/31/2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (18:30 - 07:00)
Schedule: Choice of 3x12 or 4x12 schedule available.
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Charting System: Not Provided
Float Required: Yes, to like units within scope as needed
Call Requirement: None

Position Overview:

Provide high-acuity cardiac stepdown nursing care to patients requiring close cardiac monitoring, cardiovascular interventions, telemetry, medication management, and post-procedural care in a 55-bed PCU.

Job duties:

  1. Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry patients, interpreting and responding to dysrhythmias and changes in cardiac status.
  2. Manage cardiac drips, including titration protocols, while closely monitoring patient response and hemodynamic status.
  3. Provide post-MI, pre/post-cardiac catheterization, angiogram, and cardiac surgery care including sheath removal.
  4. Manage respiratory support including oxygen therapy, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and non-invasive airway management.
  5. Administer IV medications and blood products while managing central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, feeding tubes, and wound care.

Requirements:
License: Active RN license; pending NM/Compact license accepted but must be obtained before start
Experience: 2 years preferred; 1 year considered; cardiovascular experience required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; CPI preferred

Unit: 5050-1006 - PCU (Heart Hospital)
Patient Ratios: 1:4
Patient Population: Cardiac and high-acuity PCU/stepdown patients
Patient Diagnoses: Post-MI, cardiovascular disease, dysrhythmias, CVA, post-cardiac surgery, pre/post-cardiac catheterization, post-cardiac angiogram, and other acute cardiac conditions
