Position Summary
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to gain experience and work with skilled healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting? If so, the College of Pharmacy - New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center (NMPDIC) - is looking for a student to shadow and assist with the following duties and responsibilities under the supervision of the health education consultant:
- Analyze and organize poison center data to inform poison prevention needs of New Mexican populations, particularly underserved communities.
- Conduct a thorough review of the literature on a topic/at-risk community of choice and produce a formal right-up of the findings.
- Develop and deliver a presentation clearly communicating and summarizing the key findings as they relate to poison center data.
- Participate in projects designed to develop professional and communication skills.
- Receive guidance, training, and mentoring from more senior professional personnel in planning and carrying out student professional objectives and goals.
- Collaborate in accomplishing other health education-related activities, such as disseminating poison prevention educational materials.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in a health education-related field or community/population health.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience in epidemiology/biostatistics, research, and needs assessments/program planning.
