Position Summary
Position Summary
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to gain experience and work with skilled healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting? If so, the College of Pharmacy - New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center (NMPDIC) - is looking for a student to shadow and assist with the following duties and responsibilities under the supervision of the health education consultant:
  1. Analyze and organize poison center data to inform poison prevention needs of New Mexican populations, particularly underserved communities.
  2. Conduct a thorough review of the literature on a topic/at-risk community of choice and produce a formal right-up of the findings.
  3. Develop and deliver a presentation clearly communicating and summarizing the key findings as they relate to poison center data.
  4. Participate in projects designed to develop professional and communication skills.
  5. Receive guidance, training, and mentoring from more senior professional personnel in planning and carrying out student professional objectives and goals.
  6. Collaborate in accomplishing other health education-related activities, such as disseminating poison prevention educational materials.

Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

  • Pursuing a degree in a health education-related field or community/population health.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience in epidemiology/biostatistics, research, and needs assessments/program planning.
