Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist (ST) Educator is a Certified Surgical Technologist who advances staff competence and professional growth across Perioperative Services. This role delivers initial and ongoing education, including new hire orientation, skills training, and continuing education programs. The ST Educator collaborates closely with the Perioperative Nursing Professional Development (NPD) team and perioperative leadership to identify learning needs and develop comprehensive educational initiatives. Key responsibilities include creating training materials, ensuring compliance with regulatory education requirements, facilitating competency-based programs, evaluating new employee skills, communicating practice changes, and coordinating in-service training. The ST Educator also partners with local ST programs to support student clinical rotations. As a member of the Perioperative Leadership Team, the ST Educator helps drive professional development and excellence in perioperative practice.
Qualifications:
Education
  • Associate's degree. Bachelor's preferred
  • Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program

Experience
Three (3) years of experience within the past five (5) years in any combination of:
  • Surgical Technologist role
  • Operating room scrub/preceptor role
  • Instructor in surgical technology

Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Active certification as a Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or NCCT
