The pharmacy unit plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients. The unit is responsible for dispensing medications accurately and efficiently, maintaining comprehensive medication inventory and control, including narcotics and controlled substances. This includes selecting, calculating, measuring, preparing (both sterile and non-sterile), packaging, labeling, charging, and crediting various pharmacy products like intravenous medications. In addition, the pharmacy ensures compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
How you'll contribute
A Medication Reconciliation Pharmacy Technician who excels in this role will:
  • Obtain accurate home medication history via patient/caregiver interviews, contacting outside pharmacies, physicians' offices, long term care facilities, or any other reasonable means
  • Obtain and update patient medication allergy information in the electronic medical record
  • Enter and maintain medication history in Epic
  • Review home medication list for duplications and/or omissions prior to entering into the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Assist in the recording of statistics for medication reconciliation
  • Participate in committees or teams that are relevant to the practice area and medication reconciliation

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification or Licensed Practical Nurse and possess a High School graduate or equivalent. Additional requirements include:
  • Minimum 1 years' experience working in a pharmacy or administering medications in a healthcare setting
