Job Description
Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Staff Actuary to join our Corporate Actuarial Modeling team and help drive critical business insights. In this role, you'll develop, enhance, and maintain advanced actuarial models that support financial and risk analysis across the organization. You'll translate complex results into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional partners. This position offers the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert on key initiatives with growing scope and impact. It's an ideal role for an actuary who enjoys combining technical modeling with real-world business influence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models used for financial and risk reporting, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Support ongoing reporting processes by delivering timely and accurate results, performing peer reviews, and implementing model updates for assumption changes and other enhancements.
  • Contribute to model development initiatives, including building new functionality, validating results, and ensuring models meet internal standards for testing, documentation, and governance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in modeling processes through optimization, standardization, and increased automation of workflows and reporting outputs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure models appropriately reflect product features and reporting needs, while communicating progress and results effectively to stakeholders.
  • Professional development to maintain Actuarial credentials.

Required Qualifications

  • Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) coursework completion
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4-years) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, 4+ years of actuarial experience
  • Positive relationship and communication skills in working with colleagues.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Prophet Professional or Prophet Enterprise
  • Experience with MS Excel, VBA, Python, and database applications.

In-Office Collaboration
We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders - clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.
Visa Sponsorship
Applicants must have a valid work authorization that does not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship for employment in the United States (e.g., H-1B, F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, TN).
Base Pay Salary

Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
