Position Overview

The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for milling and machining operations to support production, quality, and safety objectives. This role is critical to ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, repeatable, and capable of producing precision components that meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will review engineering drawings and technical documentation, determine machining strategies, select appropriate tooling and fixtures, and generate CNC programs using CAM software and machine-specific controls. This position requires close collaboration with machinists, engineers, and production personnel to optimize manufacturing processes, troubleshoot machining challenges, improve cycle times, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Create, modify, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for milling and machining centers 
  •  Review engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation to develop machining programs 
  •  Analyze part requirements and determine the most efficient machining methods and manufacturing strategies 
  •  Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, workholding devices, and machining parameters 
  •  Generate CNC programs utilizing CAM software and machine-specific programming systems 
  •  Establish feeds, speeds, tool paths, and machining sequences to maximize productivity and quality 
  •  Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and production personnel during setup and production operations 
  •  Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiency 
  •  Optimize machining programs to reduce cycle times and improve repeatability 
  •  Conduct program verification and test runs to validate performance and dimensional accuracy 
  •  Ensure all programs comply with quality, safety, and production requirements
