Job description

Lead Installation TechnicianBuild Incredible Systems in Incredible Homes

If you’re the kind of person who notices the AV rack before the television, has strong opinions about how a cable should be dressed, or gets genuine satisfaction from making a complicated system work flawlessly, you’ll probably fit in pretty well here.

At Audio Advice, we’re a team of people who are passionate — some might say a little obsessed — about great audio, video, home automation, networking, lighting, and technology.

And we get to work on some amazing projects.

Our residential installation teams work in many of the finest homes in the communities we serve, designing and installing technology for successful homeowners who expect things to be done right. One day you may be commissioning a dedicated home theater. The next, you could be bringing together whole-home audio, lighting, networking, security, motorized shades, and automation into one seamless system.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Installation Technician who wants to be at the center of that work.

This isn't simply a senior technician position. You’ll lead crews, solve the hard technical problems, mentor developing technicians, work directly with Project Managers and system designers, and help ensure that every finished project represents the level of craftsmanship Audio Advice is known for.

If you love the combination of technology, craftsmanship, problem solving, leadership, and amazing residential projects, this could be a very rewarding place to build your career.

What You'll DoLead High-End Residential Installations

You’ll take the technical lead on sophisticated residential technology projects, including:

  • Premium audio and video systems

  • Dedicated home theaters and media rooms

  • Whole-home distributed audio and video

  • Smart home automation and control systems

  • Enterprise-grade residential networking and Wi-Fi

  • Lighting control and motorized systems

  • Equipment racks and centralized technology infrastructure

  • Structured wiring and low-voltage systems

You'll install, configure, test, commission, and troubleshoot systems while making sure the finished work is clean, organized, reliable, and built to Audio Advice standards.

That means everything matters — from what the customer sees on the wall to what another technician finds when they open the equipment rack years later.

Be the Technical Leader on the Job Site

As a Lead Technician, people will look to you when the project gets complicated.

You’ll:

  • Lead installation teams in the field

  • Assign and coordinate daily installation work

  • Solve complex technical and installation challenges

  • Work closely with Project Managers to keep projects moving

  • Identify field conditions that require design or scope changes

  • Maintain high standards for workmanship, safety, efficiency, and professionalism

  • Help ensure projects are completed correctly the first time

You won't just be responsible for your own work. You'll help make the entire team better.

Develop the Next Generation of Technicians

Some of the best technicians in our company learned their craft working alongside someone who took the time to teach them.

We expect our Lead Technicians to do the same.

You’ll mentor less-experienced technicians, demonstrate proper installation practices, teach troubleshooting skills, and help teammates understand not just how something should be done, but why.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in building great systems and great technicians.

Work Directly With Our Customers

Our customers invite us into their homes and trust us with technology that may be integrated throughout the entire property.

That requires a different level of professionalism.

You’ll often serve as the senior technical representative on the job site, communicating with homeowners, builders, designers, architects, and other trades.

You'll explain systems clearly, provide project updates, answer technical questions, and make sure our work environment remains clean and respectful.

Technical ability gets the system working.

Professionalism and service are what make the customer want Audio Advice back for the next project.

What We're Looking ForRequired
  • 5+ years of experience in low-voltage installation, AV integration, smart home technology, or a related technical field

  • Strong knowledge of residential audio, video, networking, and control systems

  • Experience leading projects, crews, or technicians in the field

  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

  • Strong understanding of installation practices including cable pulling, termination, labeling, equipment mounting, and rack construction

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment safely

  • Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with customers

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform installation work involving ladders, attics, crawlspaces, and other residential job-site environments

Even Better If You Have
  • Experience with high-end residential AV integration

  • Strong networking knowledge including routers, managed switches, VLANs, access points, and Wi-Fi optimization

  • Experience with platforms such as Control4, Savant, Crestron, or similar automation systems

  • Experience with dedicated home theaters, distributed AV, lighting control, or motorized shades

  • Manufacturer or industry certifications

  • Experience training or mentoring developing technicians

The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here

Technology changes constantly, and complicated projects rarely go exactly according to the drawing.

The people who succeed at Audio Advice are curious, accountable, resourceful, and comfortable figuring things out.

You'll fit particularly well if you:

  • Take pride in craftsmanship

  • Notice details other people miss

  • Enjoy solving difficult technical problems

  • Stay calm when something doesn't work the first time

  • Hold yourself and your team to high standards

  • Enjoy teaching people what you know

  • Want to keep learning

  • Treat customers' homes with the same care you would treat your own

  • Actually enjoy talking about AV, networking, automation, and new technology with coworkers who enjoy it just as much

Why Audio Advice?

Audio Advice has been helping people experience great home entertainment for decades, and today we're growing rapidly into new markets while continuing to take on larger and more sophisticated residential technology projects.

We've also been recognized as a Best Place to Work, something we're particularly proud of because our culture matters just as much as the technology we install.

Here you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work on exceptional homes and high-end residential projects

  • Install some of the best audio, video, networking, and automation technology available

  • Work alongside people who genuinely love this industry

  • Receive ongoing manufacturer and technical training

  • Develop deeper expertise across multiple technology disciplines

  • Mentor and lead other technicians

  • Build a long-term career as Audio Advice continues to grow

Our culture is guided by our RISE values: Responsibility, Integrity, Service, and Excellence.

We take the work seriously.

We take care of our customers.

And we have a lot of fun working with some very cool technology along the way.

If you're an experienced technician who wants to lead great people, solve challenging technical problems, and build incredible systems in incredible homes, we'd like to talk with you.
