Position Overview

The 2nd Shift Production Manager is responsible for leading all production operations during the evening shift, ensuring excellence in Safety, Quality, and Production. This role provides leadership to production supervisors and frontline employees while driving operational performance, labor efficiency, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, customer-dedicated manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager oversees daily production activities, ensures compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, and builds a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Leadership
  • Lead all 2nd shift production operations to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals
  • Supervise production supervisors and frontline employees to ensure efficient execution of production schedules
  • Monitor production performance, downtime, and throughput while driving improvements in operational efficiency
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Quality teams to ensure uninterrupted production
Safety & Quality
  • Enforce all safety, food safety, and quality programs, including GMP, AIB, and customer requirements
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and customer specifications
  • Promote a culture where safety and quality remain the highest priorities
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and hourly team members
  • Foster accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the shift
  • Support employee training, performance management, and workforce development
  • Partner with staffing agencies to effectively manage temporary labor and staffing levels
Continuous Improvement
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production, quality, and safety issues
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and increase line efficiency
  • Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and process improvement efforts
Operational Management
  • Monitor labor utilization and production metrics to achieve operational targets
  • Maintain accurate production reporting and system data, including WMS and production tracking systems
  • Ensure effective communication and shift handoff between production teams
  • Support implementation of company initiatives and operational best practices
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience (food, packaging, or consumer packaged goods preferred)
  • Experience leading production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, food safety, and quality systems
  • Proven ability to improve production performance and labor efficiency
  • Experience with WMS and manufacturing systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Ability to work 2nd shift in a manufacturing environment
