Care Initiatives is currently seeking a PRN Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator to provide patient care in Council Bluffs, Avoca, Dunlap, and surrounding communities.
What you'd do as the Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator:
  • Arrange for counseling or provide counseling to meet the spiritual needs of patients/families/caregivers in a manner consistent with their beliefs and desires.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment of the patient, family, and caregiver's spiritual needs. Complete bereavement risk assessments of the patient/family/caregiver and determine the bereavement needs.
  • Identify appropriate spiritual and bereavement interventions and goals for the patients care plan.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) in the development of patient care plan. Ensure the services that are provided are in accordance with the patient's acceptance of these services and the patient's care plan.

What it takes to become a Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator:
  • Master of Divinity Degree from an accredited seminary; and ordination, if the particular religious group has the practice of ordination. If the religion does not practice ordination, but practices licensure, then licensure in lieu of ordination is acceptable; and endorsed and in good standing from the ecclesiastical governing body.

OR
  • Baccalaureate degree in social work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and is supervised by an MSW; or
  • Baccalaureate degree in psychology, sociology, counseling or other field related to pastoral care, grief services or counseling.
