We have a new opportunity for a year long Fellowship opportunity at our PACE program in Jersey City! This position is Mon-Fri from 8:30am-5pm.
Basic Qualifications:
Education/Training/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Preferred background includes work experience involving direct interaction with individuals, problem solving, and budget management.
  • A degree in Health or Human Services, Nursing, Management, Psychology, or Social Work is strongly preferred.

Skill(s):
  1. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting.
  2. Leadership and management skills and desire to learn more about setting limits and accountability.
  3. Excellent interpersonal relations in managing professional and paraprofessional staff
  4. Clinical expertise and leadership

Experience:
  1. Advanced Degree or 3-5 years of work experience with skills that are transferrable to learning a management role.

Medical Clearance:
Employees must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
General Background and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director and the Chief Operating Officer, the Fellow will go through a rotational program designed to provide them with an intensive experience and understanding of the Program for all Inclusive Care for the Frail Elderly (PACE). PACE provides a nursing home level of care for patients or in their home and is commonly called a nursing home without walls as the care is delivered in their homes through a partnership with families and the PACE center to meet their needs so they can live safely and fully in the community.
As such, the Fellow will first be assigned to shadow a nursing home administrator to better understand the needs of the frail elderly, qualifications and assessment of nursing home admission, payment sources/insurance for nursing homes and regulatory management. The experience will provide the Fellow with an understanding of Nursing Home Level of Care and operations. The experience will include learning of the physical and psychosocial needs of seniors. The Fellow will then be provided with a Manager in Training program for a PACE center, which will include administrative responsibility related to the direct operation of the Center and managing daily planning and coordination of center-based activities to include facilitation of daily meetings, financial planning, application of insurance coverage, participant/caregiver care issues, assessments, appeals process, end of life issues, conflict resolution, function and requirements of the interdisciplinary team.
At the end of the Fellowship, the Fellow should have an understanding of all aspects of PACE, understand how to manage team members, assure accountability of staff to assure services to the participants are equitable and medically necessary, as well as how to balance needs within a capitated rate from Medicare and Medicaid while ensuring that persons receiving services are treated with the highest degree of dignity and respect.
