Job description

Duties:
Under the supervision of the Chief Marketing Officer, support the overall objectives of Joni and Friends' Development department. Perform duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to:
  1. In collaboration with the CMO and Directors, develop, execute and manage a successful grant proposal strategy, intentionally collaborating with internal teams to foster and improve relationships with current ministry partners
  2. Maintain excellent relationships with our field teams, both domestically and internationally, collaborating with existing and new funding partners to better serve churches and people living with disability
  3. Work with Development Directors to grow funding from $2 million to over $5 million dollars annually
  4. Oversee and manage a staff of contract grant writers to present grant proposals for over 70 grants per year
  5. Manage cultivation of gifts and data in Salesforce
    1. Thanking and acknowledging gifts within 24 hours
    2. Reporting to foundation partners on the impact of their gifts
    3. Monthly progress reports to CMO
  6. Assist in research, preparing and approving proposals, and reports to granting organizations. Keep records of due dates for proposals and report backs
  7. Work with Development Officers on the strategy and plans for "pre-asks" for major events to increase and lift giving
  8. Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to support department and organizational needs

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
  • Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
  • Minimum 2 years of non-profit experience required
  • Graduate Degree, or equivalent knowledge and experience required
  • Good interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to effectively organize and prioritize a wide range of daily tasks with varied deadlines are necessary
  • Must be detail oriented, committed to accuracy, and a team player who is flexible and able to work independently
  • Will need to understand basic CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Required to stay current with all state and federal laws regarding planned gifts and estates
  • Must have a strong sense of confidentiality
  • Strong general computer skills are necessary along with a competent, working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet
  • Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable

Physical Requirements:
This position primarily involves sedentary work in an office setting. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods, operate a computer and other standard office equipment, communicate clearly in person and over the phone, and occasionally stand, walk, bend, or reach to access files and supplies. The role may also require occasionally lifting or carrying items up to 20 pounds.
Work is performed in a professional office setting with occasional movement throughout the facility. The environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level, with standard lighting and temperature conditions. Employees are expected to maintain safety and ergonomic awareness while performing all tasks.

Compensation: $73,000 - $85,000 per year. This is a hybrid position working in the Agoura Hills office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Wednesday and Friday are remote workdays.

  • Actively attending a church that has a statement of faith that does not contradict Joni and Friends' Statement of Faith
